Thanks Mrs SD, will get my hands on a copy and start reading. I am going to earmark Sunday evenings for me time (will use the afternoon to prepare for the week). Daisy1571- we found it on disney+, I swapped clubcard points for a 3 month subscription. We had box sets for 1 & 2 and hadn't seen any further. I have watched from the beginning and dh joined me from season 3. My cold is improving but ds still feels quite poorly so we are going to stay home after dropping dds to school but ds will be sad because he loves his Thursday play group. My kitchen looks a right mess today so going to have a clear and clean as my shiny new washing machine arrives tomorrow and it will show the rest of the kitchen up 🤣. Got to catch up on posts and will check back in later. Hope you all have a lovely day.
2024 decluttering Campaign 12/366 bags decluttered 7/24 🐸 in February 1/31 🐸 in March 5/24 large items decluttered 100/2024 items decluttered 6 items in 🏅 🏅 Ds 🏅
Morning all. I also love Derbyshire and usually drive to my son's South of Manchester through Chesterfield and then over the Peak district. Takes longer but a nice drive. Mrs SD - re family history cull - I have spent a year or so checking the correct ones on digital tree and now I am removing the extra ones of which there are many thousand. When you first explore a branch you tend to go wider at first to make sure you have the correct line and not the relative with the same name - laziness means I have just left them but tree is unmanageable. I am starting with the easy ones which I can see are not required - another 1000 + deleted yesterday.
147 Family History frog - 1000 more deleted 148-150 Had a 10 minute wait when ready to go out so I emptied a kitchen drawer, cleaned it inside and out and put it back minus two items - a tatty tea cloth and some cooking wrap I never use 151 Bathroom cleaned 152 Holiday instalment paid for DGD4
Nice lunch out yesterday with chat to some people I don't see often. January 1p challenge completed - I am going to try and get to December with it this year. I need to get to 168/2024 to be one twelfth of the target on 31 January.
Really can’t wait to get rid of (declutter?) one of my clients. there was a change in personnel and the new link person just doesn’t seem to get how self employed contractors work. I did initially think it was me not adapting to her style but have had conversations with others, it’s not me. I will crack on with my contract as although i could give in notice to terminate it’s the same amount of time! Sorry for the early morning vent but within less than two months i have gone from loving my work to this and it’s affecting my mental health now.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - fantastic job on the hob 👏 I have enjoyed the first two RO books so it is great to know that there are two more. I am not meant to be buying any more books though …… @TC77 - I will join in with applauding you on being brave 👏 @nannywindow - sounds like a lovely time with your DGC
A financial 🐸 has been tackled. Most reluctantly I might add although it really wasn’t that difficult. The fridge still looks bare but has been producing meals in conjunction with the freezer and store cupboard . I obviously buy too much normally and too many things get buried. It’s lovely being able to see into every corner. The fact that everyone is eating their way through the biscuit and chocolate gifts has kept the complaints down though. A bit of natural decluttering going on there.
I gave up using a tv recorder as we just never got around to watching the recordings. Occasionally I do miss being able to see things that I would have enjoyed and can’t get on one of the app players. It might be something like a multi part Dalgleish and I can’t even find when the next episodes will be on.
Some fabric from the stash has been made into a top. I often tended to buy just a metre of something that I fancied. I cut it out last year but was a little short of what I needed for the sleeves so it has lingered in the craft cupboard. Cutting out a couple of cuffs was the solution and now it is a wearable thing instead. An acrylic knitted dress has left the wardrobe as even in the coldest weather I didn’t choose to wear it. I forget to include things like deleting emails but it is a constant struggle to get them down and does take time. Virtually nothing has come in due to having to buy heating oil, which is still twice the price that it used to be in recent years. I am keeping on top of dealing with and filing or recycling the post.
Been thinking today and gained some insight into the muddle my house is in, wombling tendencies and realise issue with ex not paying meant I had a scarcity mentality, so many things bought cheap or picked up and not really what ai want but felt needed to be thrifty and also that I didn't deserve nice things. Also not in tune with what I have, so recently been looking in CS for belts for jeans as felt I needed one.
Sorry, am just reading and catching up, but can I just say that this really stuck out to me. TC77 you absolutely deserve nice things, and I think that realising this will be so helpful to you. I don't know you but I am proud of you! Your frog tackling is leading on to bigger and brighter things and before you know it you will be doing a William Morris and have nothing in your house you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

As some of you may know, I am very involved with out community library, and although this is not strictly in line with this thread I thought the following may be of some interest ( especially WeeNancy). So... We have decluttered 153 boxes of books to an off site facility for storage - 5.2 tonnes! They come back late next week. Lots of shelving has been rehomed, donated to local primary schools specifically, and residue sold. Absolutely nothing to the scrap man or landfill so very please with ourselves Lots of paint! Masses of ood books to a recycling facility. Mostly donated paperbacks we can not sell
The new kitchen has been completed yesterday, Carpets are being deep cleaned today, and the refit starts Monday next. Most funded by a grant, but quite a lot by ourselves. Our volunteers ( of which there are few) have done a sterling job and are really excited about all the new stuff. We hope to be able to revitalise the community a bit too and make the library a well used facility.
Only grips is why do Ikea use so much cardboard - filled 2 recycling bags with wraps of heir products whilst we built the kitchen and its only 5 cupboards and a top!!
Right back to see Thomas and start clearing some of the home stuff now.
I have only just discovered this thread and would really like to join in. I did start the year intending to declutter but are now firmly dedicated.
I made my first sale on Vinted last week and plan to do a lot more. I have contacted a couple of auction houses and an antique dealer with a view to dispose of some vintage stuff that I intended to get rid of BEFORE Covid plus I bought some bits back from my late friends house to sell for her son.
I made a pact to plan what we are eating and only buy the food we need and to use up what is in the freezer rather than keeping it there as an unidentified ornament.
Hi all, I managed to get a few things done yesterday. 3 LDFPA and 3 loads of washing done. I progressed the union thing and made a start on the kitchen. Lots of rubble into the bin and recycling, lots of things put away and I have completely cleared about a third of the worktop. I decided to do it in chunks so I can think about where the stuff has to go without ending up just shoving it in a cupboard as I know that will mean stuff will just end up back on the worktop cos it's too difficult to get to other stuff. I also had a trawl through the veg in the fridge and blanched and froze what needed to be. The kitchen bin was emptied and the bedroom recycling was emptied. I will do another chunk of the kitchen today and hopefully get the union thing done. After tea I watched the footy and did some crochet. Very good footy result means I am planning a trip to Wembley at the end of February
@London_1 what a great way to see the country, a pin in a map, I might suggest that to OH . Sorry to hear your friend is no longer able to take the trips now but you do have some lovely memories. Maybe this is something you could do with one of your daughters in the future
@Mrs SD the hob looks brilliant . Why won't your dsis give you book 4? Get it from the library . The thing about itvx is there are some programmes OH likes, but I am not bothered with, but sometimes misses so we have to record every episode and the box gets full and I can't delete them cos I never know what has been watched . Hopefully we can now stop recording them . You might find it works on your set up without all the rigmarole
@flamingo747 I think gravel is useless for keeping weeds down. It is easier to weed than the gaps between flags but that is about all that can be said for it. My dsis has a large gravel area at the front of her house where the car is parked and it's a never ending job to keep it weed free hugs.
@EnergyShifter hope the eye issue is resolved quickly. Anything to do with eyes makes me wobbly as well and I haven't had any real issues so hugs
@BargainJunky, welcome aboard , unidentified ornaments in the freezer , so funny . I used to have a few of those and had a few strange meals but I label everything now . OH on the other hand doesn't so when I found a plastic container with unknown contents, looked like corned beef hash, I asked, turns out its satay sauce so good job I didn't defrost it for OH's tea. I am veggie so wouldn't have bothered me
Ok time for another cuppa and a ponder Hugs to everyone who would like one
136 - 138 LDFPA 139 kitchen bin 140 bedroom recycling 141 chunk of kitchen worktop Take care everyone 141/2024
Well dones and good work to everyone. I love how everyone is so supportive to each other. The array of personalities and decluttering styles is impressive. All of us different but all have a similar aim.
London 1, you have such lovely memories of your holidays with your friend, precious. Your lamb tale made me laugh. I love to see the lambs in the fields. When they get a little older they race about in lamb gangs, bounding with joy. Jumping with straight legs . It is one of my all time favourite things.
Mr V has walked to the charity shop and dropped off more trousers of mine and some scarves. We are about to tidy our wardrobes. We have got to the point where it is difficult to put stuff away.
When we came home from shopping yesterday the duck was gone so it must have been ok. Thank goodness.
