I am having a break. Just done my chest of drawers as there's nowt on telly and I am fed up of knitting. Lots to go. I was shocked that I have brought so many things into the house this month. It isn't even over yet. Admittedly things like curtains and blinds won't need replacing in a hurry but even so. The bottom drawer is the gift wrap, gift bag drawer, a good cull in there of things I am unlikely to use. We do secret Santa now as a family and birthdays I tend to give a little thing to unwrap and money. I have decided that one of the ornaments I brought from Mum's can go.
Brie, it will all come together all of a sudden and then you will find yourself missing a stream of people through the house like I do. Booo to the polystyrene though.
The hob looks a treat Mrs SD. The ridge is the sort of job where I would ruin my veg knives, getting in the groove! My Mum lent me The Thursday Murder Club. I am enjoying it so far. I am going to save it now for our flight to the Shetland Islands next week. Gales permitting.
London 1 ,Leek is a little gem of a place. We go often. My Auntie lives in Hope, don't we all ! That's a local joke. The High Peak is a lovely part of the world. I believe it to be the second most visited national park in the world. Drives me nuts sometimes. I have never been to Kent or the Isle of White, perhaps this year.
I agree dementia is cruel. My father in law had it. My daughter has a special interest in dementia and word loss with her work. Research is so important to find the key to it all.
flamingo 747 ,well done, I love those sort of time consuming dirty jobs.

Work has started on the roof today - the two workmen are really nice but its still super-disruptive especially as I'm trying to work in the midst of it. Repeat to self "this time next week it'll be over".
There's something wrong with my right eye - my vision has been deteriorating over the past week or so and I got to a point where I couldn't ignore it today so I have made an appointment at the optician. My vision has gone foggy like I have a cataract (& that's not possible as I have a plastic lens) so its likely I've got PCO which apparently is easy to treat with a laser. Anything to do with my eyes makes me very wobbly though because of previous surgeries so that combined with the work on the roof has overwhelmed me a bit today.

Hope the duck is ok vulpix
Sorry about your friend jackieo, very sad
Where did you find Lost please, dfw? We were just talking about that today saying its never been repeated that we have seen.
We are still working our way through new tricks (one each morning) then evenings are taken up with chateau diy, new life in the sun, house of games, an Elementary (half way through season 2 but still got about a hundred to go lol) and find it fix it flog its. Between that 'regular stuff' and random other new stuff - all the recent progs about the anniversary of top of the pops, Susan calman cruising, kirsty and Phil etc, we don't seem to be clearing much percentage from the recordings, just about keeping it steady at 26/27% full. I'm in awe of how much you get through Mrs sd. We have almost got to the end of cataloguing our dvds - several full series unearthed to be watched and a large box of dvds to be watched and decide if getting chucked or kept. I'm not sure we have enough predicted life to get through them all without adding 100odd hours of Lost onto the list but I do quite fancy seeing it again!22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. thank you for all the kind words about the mega frog being chewed up and spat out! and for my medal !
Mrs SD the hob looks great,
@Dfw38 - what great planning about the dress up days at school. I was only reminded by the school the day before, and working and not very crafty it wasn't always a great success.
@EnergyShifter, i hope you find the cause of the eye problem quickly and it can be resolved swiftly.
Been thinking today and gained some insight into the muddle my house is in, wombling tendencies and realise issue with ex not paying meant I had a scarcity mentality, so many things bought cheap or picked up and not really what ai want but felt needed to be thrifty and also that I didn't deserve nice things. Also not in tune with what I have, so recently been looking in CS for belts for jeans as felt I needed one.
This morning before work checked out belts, found 7, found 1 i didn't want, 1 is too big so may make extra holes (was my dad's) best one is too small so will offer to a DD, then realised I have more in another drawer, suede ones that I've never worn but like, - 2 more went out and others are together now. Also trousers I was going to wear yesterday, v smart and good condition but didn't wear as \i don't feel good in them and realise they don't have any pockets, so they're in the CS bag along with the belts.
Two parcels and packaging posted off so another 8 plus found another box file re the mega frog so in recycling, but kept plastic wallets and debating re the box file. Hoping I will pick up speed but finding categories I don't like e.g trousers without pockets (unless special occasion), or yellow folders helps. calling it 10 altogether, also making process with eating the store cupboard !
Hoping to keep up with the posts more regularly and will then remember what people have been up to, decluttering and coping with x25 -
Gave the hallway a really good hoover including getting right into the edges and it feels so much cleaner. Can now see how horrible the paintwork looks.
More papers have gone today and most of the Christmas decorations are now in the box. OH will help me finish and put away tomorrow. Another jar and bottle emptied for lunch today and working my way through the last few OOD tins of beans. May soon be in a position to unpack the box of BB 2024 beans which we should be able to use in the next few months, then we can start on the 2025 and beyond later in the year and no longer be chasing our tails.
Will also be using some dried beans and chickpeas in between - will cook and freeze batches of these starting in a couple of weeks time.
Had a look at another drawer in the bedroom today but it felt overwhelming so will try again tomorrow.
One frog dealt with last week - difficult conversation with a rellie. I don’t hold out much hope for a change in dealings with this branch of the family as I don’t think they are that interested in family generally but I feel better for having let them know how their behaviour is affecting me and if things don’t change at least I know I gave it my best shot and I will make a decision on how much effort I put in moving forward.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅21 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I did a bit more paperwork, cleared down a couple more programmes from TV planner & did a little bit of knitting. DH finally got home just after 20:00 (with a sliced loaf) so DSis & I could have cheesy beans on toast for dinner. He was definitely a bit squiffy 😉 but not as bad as I was expecting 😮💨 - think he went straight to bed after drinking the mug of coffee I made him. He had a good time - more chatting than drinking it would seem 😊 Wudupa.

Liverpool_Anne, it might have been a slow day decluttering physical items but well done on getting ITV-X sorted out 👏 After all that rigmarole, I won’t be bothering - mind you I watch too much tv anyway so probably a good thing 😉 Good luck with the union thing 🍀 & thanks for the mention of a medal for TC77- which she now has 😊
bamboo_socks, what a great word “wassailing” 🙂 Hope the batch cooking went well 🤞
~FlowerPot~, well done on decluttering your tax return & tax bill 👏 & Good luck replenishing your tax pot 🍀
flamingo747, I see you have passed your original 500 target so another Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 👏
Lovely post Siebrie 😊 I really like that idea of buying a small photo album when on vacation 👏
Excellent decluttering Dfw38 👏 Well done on planning ahead for costumes for your DDs 😊
Excellent decluttering Crazycatlady2 👏 You got such a lot done 🤩 I hope you did something for yourself 😉
nannywindow, sounds like your DGCs have hollow everything not just legs 😅 Well done on the decluttering at your Dad’s & persevering with the audiologist form 👏
Brie, fingers crossed that the rest of the old kitchen will soon be gone from the drive apart from the worktop & intact cupboard 🤞 Please try to insist that they clear up after themselves - both sweeping the drive & using their own vacuum to pick up the styrofoam bits 🙏 It might also be worth a call asking for the grill pan for the new oven 🤔
vulpix, I just googled Leek Market - so jealous 😉 Although with such a great choice I think I would soon be skint 🤣 Excellent decluttering at craft club 👏
I hope the duck was OK 🤞
Now, now pixtotts ‘wagging finger emoji’ - 3 boxes of stuff out + all the work done creating your perfect desk - you have done an amazing job in your studio👏 & very MSE - you must be pleased 🥹 Keeping my fingers crossed for lots of V*nted sales 🤞
Not caught up with the cheerleading so promise to try harder tomorrow 😉 Cwtches to all 🤗

Morning all. I do enjoy my working from home days, as I can drink tea in bed when I wake up, rather than leaping into the shower! I've unsubscribed from another three mailing lists this morning. My email decluttering feels like it's taking forever, 😞 but hopefully I'll get more deleted today.
I can't remember which poster said it, but I really empathise with the 'scarcity mindset '. For me, it's only really around clothes - I'm pretty ruthless decluttering elsewhere, but getting rid of clothes is hard, even if I'm not wearing them. But recognising that means I can have a gentle word with myself. And my mantra is always to be happier with less, and pay it forward. So ... another pair of trousers to the charity bag 🙂Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

MrsSD have you tried the old fashioned sort of wire wool on your hob rings ? I use it on mine and it seems to work well
vulpix Hope is such a lovely place, when we drove in I said to my friend gosh look at that tiny cottage almost at the top on the right of the mini mountain, :)and yes that was our holiday cottage which was amazing as it had the most fantastic views.
One thing I remembered about the cottage was when we were sitting at the table in the sitting room having breakfast, it was a beautiful spring morning, and the windows were open.Out of it seemed nowhere through the window jumped a very excited and frisky baby lamb.:) it was racing around the room followed by the both of us trying to catch it.
It had jumped over the wire fence outside and then in through the low window. Its Mum was by the wire bleating piteously to it obviously quite upset that junior had escaped.
I never realised how hard it is to catch a lamb that doesn't want to be caught. Eventually we managed it, and carried this wriggling little animal back outside and popped it over the fence wire back to its Mum again. it certainly made the pair of us laugh and brightened up the morning for us The Derbyshire hills were so gorgeous and in spring even more beautiful. I highly recommend the High peaks to anyone who wants to see some amazing views and the peace and quiet is fantastic.
On that holiday on out travels we stopped to chat to a young chap who was rebuilding some of the stone walls that divide the fields up I was fascinated watching him, and how its done and its rather like an enormous jigsaw yet the walls stand up to all weathers He said he was following his Dad, granddad and great grandfathers footsteps and loved his job. He was very happy to talk to two nosy old ladies and explain how its done. He said he is never short of work and was booked up months in advance as its quite a skilled job to make sure they stand the test of time and weather. We loved our exploring holidays around the country and once we had a spot booked we would search for all the unusual and interesting bits locally to see and explore. So much more interesting than just sitting by a pool and boiling.
Decorator is due this morning so I am looking forward to that and I shall bring some of the overspill of stuff downstairs to sort through whilst he is here, fingers crossed a bit more second culling to be done today
Have a good day chums it seems quite mild at the moment
