I missed the Northern lights as well last night! I read I could see them tonight so I'm going to look.
We had a lovely day at St Ives. We took the bus there and back. We got a boat to see the seals even though we only saw a few of them. We are off to Truro tomorrow to look around.5 -
We went for our members’s free hot drink for two at the garden centre this afternoon. It is a regular date, twice a month as we are both members, an hour to sit and chat with his phone switched off. We had a large pot of tea, with an extra pot of boiling water to top up the pot. The cups and saucers are utility ware rather than pretty, but a change from our usual mugs. DH had a cherry scone with butter, I took a few walnuts and a sliced apple in a pot. The view from the restaurant is pleasant, trees now in autumn glory, and two large wind turbines. The displays of winter pansies and cyclamen were very bright in the sunshine.
We stopped to forage some sweet chestnuts on the way home, a couple of pounds is plenty, we could have filled a shopping bag. The spikes on the casings are very sharp.

@Brie - A fox at your door is wonderful!! 😍❤️ we don't get them here (well, we don't see them anyway 😉) it must have been amazing having them grow up in your garden last year 😁
@Wednesday2000 - seeing the seals (even if there weren't many) must have been lovely 😍 creatures in their natural habitat is always magical 😁 I hope you enjoy your day in Truro!
@Nelliegrace - that's a really good chestnut haul!! 🙌😁 Your piccie is the epitome of autumnal beauty - I love it!! ❤️
Last night with my ds and family was absolutely lovely- my grandbaby was absolutely hilarious and I literally laughed till I cried!! 🤣 I also discovered that I'm getting another grandbaby next year so that was a nice surprise! 😁
Today will be a quiet one - we don't have much to do in the garden but I'm thinking that I may cut the squash to put in the greenhouse to finish ripening now that we're getting frosts so once we've done that I'll probably plant out the garlic and onion sets.
I've got a few bits to do in the house too but nothing much - I'll get a bounce session in at some point and I may go out for a walk 🤔
Food tonight will be a spaghetti bake - I've got some pasta left (no bolognese as I sent the kids home with that) so it's an ideal way to use that up 😁
I'm off to make a chamomile tea now so hope you have a fab slow day!! 🐌😁

Good news about the grandbaby.xx
I had a very slow day as we stayed in the hotel until about 4 just staying in bed and watching TV and YouTube. It was a bit chilly and 🌧 and it was nice to get cosy. We had a little friend tap on the window.

Although only around 10-11c today it was brighter and dry and the sun did its best to come out this afternoon. I did a wash load and got it out on the line first thing and its all dry by tonight
After lunch DD, son-in-law and I and the three dogs went to Compton Beach and had a nice walk along the sands the dogs loved it as they can run where ever they want to, and Stanley the rescue greyhound has a really good run.
Teddy the Westie runs in and out of the sea barking at the temerity of seagulls to fly overhead.:) but Lexi, the very old lady Jack Russell is happy to walk on a lead with her little coat on as she feels the cold a bit .
She is deaf, and we think not too sure of where she is at times plus her eyes aren't brilliant, but at 15 years old which in dog years is 105 she is happier and safer on her lead as she gets very confused if she can't see the other two dogs bless her.
DD had her from a pup as a birthday present from her husband for her 40th birthday and she is a much cared for old lady and we do our best to keep her happy and safe in her twilight years
Both the other two are rescue dogs, and good lads, if a bit noisy at times
So a nice mile and a half stroll in the autumn sunshine by the sea was so relaxing, then we drove up onto the downs and sat and just watched the sun over Tennyson Downs and Yarmouth and the sea. We are so lucky to have such beautiful countryside here .
DD drove us all home and my son-in-law made us a delicious roast chicken dinner for tonight. I've just stripped the remainder off so its probably going to be a nice curry for tomorrow nighst dinner, and maybe a few scraps for the dogs as a treat as there was a lot of chicken left over.
I have the dentist in the morning as one of my crowns snapped off last Friday so he has to remove the root which I will be glad to get rid of as its sharp and keeps catching the inside of my mouth. Not cheap, but he's a good dentist and very quick so I'll be in and out in 15 minutes. I was the last time he had to remove one
I have a bag of stuff for the charity shop for tomorrow but I may wait a couple more days to see if I can find some more odds and ends
Onwards and upwards

@t14cy_t - glad the jumble was good and you found some useful items! 😁 it's so much better
for the planet and the pocket to reuse clothes 😉
@Brie - those pictures are amazing!! 😍 thank you!! 😁
@amber03 & @Wednesday2000, thank you for your good wishes for my new grandbaby 😁 I'm sure the time will fly by!
@Wednesday2000 - I'm loving the gull!! 😍😂
Today is another chillax day - I've got my grandbaby tomorrow after school for a sleepover so am going to do cleaning etc tomorrow morning.
I'm just enjoying the peace at the moment- I've gone on a jaunt around the garden and started to make job plans for it and I've made my lists for other activities too so I'm feeling quite grounded. I like going with the flow most of the time but I occasionally enjoy the focus of an activity list 😉 I want to achieve quite a bit before my new year celebrations so it's helpful to keep to a plan - I can add to the list as stuff occurs to me and it helps me to remember everything!
Food wise, I've made a few things for this week - a courgette and tomato bake; sautéed veg cooked in 'chicken' stock (courgette, onion, scarlett runner beans, tomato, cavolo nero, cauliflower, garlic - all from the garden!); and some roasted carrot, brussel sprouts, parsnip and beetroot (garden again). We're having a combination of them all for dinner tonight - last night we did much the same. I love homegrown food - plant to plate in less than 30 minutes! 😋🙌
I'm on day 9 of sobriety today - I've eaten far too much sugar to compensate for the lack of cola (3 sharing bags of sweets plus a large bag of rainbow drops) but I'm okay with that as it's helped me in the last week. From today, that sugar craving needs to be addressed - I'm over the initial shock now so can get the sugar under control again. My dh saw a video for chocolate mousse cake made with tofu, chickpeas, vanilla and chocolate powder that he wants me to make so I'll try that as a no sugar alternative if I want to add sweet stuff in to my diet. I am feeling bloated and uncomfortable from all the sugar but it's going to be a quick fix once I stop my intake.
My chamomile tea is calling - have a fab slow day! 🐌 😁DNF: £708.92/£1000

Film Club at a local village Memorial Hall this afternoon. We watched Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen in The Good Liar, a film with some interesting twists. I would have turned it off as a TV Film, seeing the callous conmen, and worrying for a vulnerable victim, but it improved.
We were glad of the interval, and the cup of tea. I took my knitting.
We shopped at Aldi on the way home and saw two young children helping their mother with the shopping. The toddler sat in the small trolly and lifted everything, very carefully onto the conveyer at the till.7
