@Brie - I hope you're feeling better today!
Yesterday was a good day - I went for my eye test, bought a new toaster, mooched at a couple of shops, went to a farm shop and bought a sack of onions and a purple cauliflower grown by them, came home and booked a visit/quote from a new window cleaner, did a bit of tidying and vacuuming then relaxed with a latte. It was a really nice day, no hurry, not too busy in the shops and the window cleaner turned up on time, quoted and then cleaned my windows so I'm mega happy with that!! 🙌
Today I'm doing a general clean and deep cleaning my bathroom - I'm going to have a bit of a slob first though as I'm still tired so I'm hoping to have a little snooze!
No food to cook today as we're having leftover pie - I wasn't hungry last night so didn't eat but dh had monster amounts and said it was lush!! 😁
I'm hoping to get started on my exercises tomorrow - it was going to be today but I didn't get the general cleaning done yesterday so I probably won't have the time/energy but who knows!? 🤷♀️
Have a fab slow day!! 🐌😁

We had a lovely day out on the Severn Valley Railway recently, just the two of us.
We are old enough to remember the steam trains in service, though not the glory days of the Great Western Railway. We had a compartment to ourselves, and enjoyed the sounds, the smells and motion of the steam engine, and the excitement of going through the tunnel, and over the river bridge. The autumn scenery was glorious, sunshine for a change.
We had a glass of beer by the fire in the railway pub, and then pottered round the market at Bridgnorth, and had a walk to enjoy the views over the river, before catching the train again.11 -
@Wednesday2000 - window cleaners are a nightmare!! 🤦♀️ My new one has been recommended by someone in the village who has used him for years and is very reliable apparently!🤞 My last one turned up every few months after I'd chased him, the one prior to him went awol and the one prior to him was useless!! My dd's window cleaner keeps disappearing too - why????!!! 🙄🤦♀️😂
@Nelliegrace - your outing sounds wonderful!! 😁 My grandbaby adores trains - I take him on the steam train a few times a year and we always do a 'christmas' ride (either polar express or the local steam railway one) - we were really lucky a couple of years ago when the driver let him sit in the front with him and showed him how it all works - he was just beaming!! 😍
I'm feeling a bit blurgh today....I've had a low level headache since yesterday (probably sugar withdrawal 🙄) and I'm tired. I think I may need to bite the bullet and take some meds to see if I can clear it. I did have lots of plans for today but I'm just going to play it all by ear and see how it goes 😉
Dh is out for a meal tonight so I'll be finishing off the pie (I had it last night and dh was right - it is lush!! 😁) so no cooking required today.
Okay, looking at the screen is hurting my head so I'm off - have a fab slow day!! 🐌😁DNF: £708.92/£1000

The headache still hasn't gone which is annoying but it is improving so hopefully will have left the building by tomorrow!! 🤞
Today has been a really quiet one as I didn't feel like doing anything so other than cooking dinner I've basically slobbed - blissful!! 😂
Dinner was cannellini beans cooked in stock, mixed grains, purple cauliflower, romanesca cauliflower, beetroot, carrots and a french mustard cashew cream dressing. Very tasty and plenty left for tomorrow 😋😁

Glorious day here on the IoW today, a nice walk down to the nearest beach through Appley Park where DGS Ben spotted first his first red squirrel while heis down visiting as he on a two week half term break from his inner city school in London where he teaches .
A lovely hot chocolate at the coffee shop there and a gentle stroll along in the sunshine by the sea, then back home again.

@London_1 - sounds like you had a lovely day 😁
I had a quiet weekend, finally sorted the freezer inventory and transferred everything from the upright one in the kitchen to my new chest one 🙌 I've defrosted the upright now and took the opportunity this morning to pull it out and give the wall behind and floor below a deep clean - I've just finished cleaning the inside now that it's returned to it's space and will move all the ufo's and the regularly used stuff (bread, my grandbaby's ice cream etc) back into it tonight.
I'm picking up my new glasses tomorrow which I'm very happy about - if you're ever tempted to go from varifocals back to two pairs of single vision lenses please don't!! 🙄🤦♀️ - so I'll be out of the house for a few hours in the morning and I'm going to pop to a few shops while I'm on my travels. I'd seen a few gifts for my grandbabies that I decided against last time I was out but I've had time to think and I've changed my mind!!
The weather here has been very soggy overnight and this morning so I'm not walking today - I may do a bit of indoor exercise but I'm not really feeling it at the moment so I'll see how it goes.
Last night for dinner I made celeriac steak; creamy harissa cannellini beans; brussel sprouts in orange and ginger; courgette, tomato and onion saute with mixed herbs; rocket, black grape and pomegranate salad. 😋
I've made some dark speckled lentil burmese tofu this morning for dinner tonight so my plan is to cube it and cook it in the air fryer, blitz the remaining courgette and tomato sautè into a sauce to mix through pasta (I've got some red lentil pasta to use up - dh isn't that keen but he'll cope! 😉) and blitz the rest of the beans into a 'hommous' to serve on the side along with a salad. I'm looking forward to dinner!! 😋
I've never made burmese tofu with dark speckled lentils before but I loved the red lentil version and I've got over 20kg of dark speckled ones so if it works out, I'll be very happy!! 😂

I managed some sewing at the weekend and also got a load of the dog’s stuff washed and dried outside. Saturday evening was glorious and I made the most of the evening light before the clocks went back. There was so much bird activity and then that magical moment when the bats come out too. It did feel like all the creatures were feeding up ready for the winter.@Nelliegrace - we love steam trains too and your photo is stunning.@leftatthetrafficlights - great work on the freezer and more lovely food too! If my varifocals got broken I would be in the same boat. I don’t want to buy 3 pairs of varifocals though. I have one pair clear and one pair as sunglasses. Then my readers and distance glasses which are much cheaper.5

@Moorviews - your Saturday evening sounds lovely 😁 watching the changes in the seasons and behaviour of wildlife is such a pleasure 😍
@Topher - I love the umami flavour of mushrooms but don't like the texture unless it's very finely minced so mushroom powder is ideal for me 😁
Only a week now until my new year and I've been thinking about the direction I want to take over the next twelve months. On reflection, this year has been much more turbulent than expected - my wrist injury earlier this year changed the things I was physically able to achieve which has been disappointing. However, I have also self-sabotaged frequently and I know that I need to address that - I have no intention of carrying my negative behaviours into my new year. I've also had some difficult times with family members which really de-railed me but thankfully they are fully resolved now so emotionally I'm hoping for a more settled year ahead.
In the next twelve months I want to concentrate on two main aspects - consistency and living seasonally. I'm going to set intentions and budgets for each season and celebrate all the unique opportunities each season brings 🙌
Anyway, more on that soon...
So, food on Monday was a re-purpose of the leftovers - I had the dark speckled lentil burmese tofu, the remains of the celeriac steak, blitzed the remaining courgette and tomato sautè into a sauce to mix through pasta, made the rest of the beans into a 'hommous' and served with a rocket, black grape and pomegranate salad. Twas lush! 😁
