Builders are here today and getting stuck in so I'm staying out of their way for the moment Its a bit damp and rainy at the moment but due to dry up later so I might go for a bus ride into Newport for a look around M&S I know my DD would like one of their potted Chrysanths if they have any so I may treat her if I can find a nice one
Then a hot chocolate before a bus ride back to Ryde

@Wednesday2000 - did you like the banana blossom? I'm impressed that you found a vegan cornish pasty! 🙌
@London_1 - I hope you enjoy yourself in Newport!
Yesterday was lovely 😁 my grandbaby was in fine form and we had a fabulous time playing and making stuff - he's at that age now where he's permanently got me in stitches, I ache from laughing so much!! 😍😂😂
Today I was going to go into the city to get some stuff, make appointments etc but I've decided against it and I'm just going to have a quiet day doing very little - we're having the curry tonight that I made the other day so no cooking is required and I've had a quick swish and swipe around the house so everything is in order. I'm going to have a little snooze later and perhaps do a bit of reading but that will probably be it! 😁

Sun is out at last, so I'm off for a mooch around Newport. Washing is out on the line to dry

Women’s Institute this morning. A very good talk from a volunteer motorcyclist from Blood Bikes. They transport blood, blood samples, breast milk for premature babies, and all sorts of urgent medical things. There was a collection taken and people were generous.
We had a cup of tea and there were biscuits. It was a pleasant morning catching up with old friends.
Next month there is going to be Christmas Wreath making. There are several enthusiastic flower arrangers in the group. I shall take my knitting and enjoy the company.
It is a chilly autumn day, warm in the sunshine. I have taken the dog for a gentle walk, enjoying the sound of treading on the crisp leaves.5 -
The banana blossom reminded me a bit of jackfruit. I knew Cornwall was quite vegan friendly as I follow a YouTuber who lives there. I got the pasty from a bakery she mentioned called Loafs.🙂 We went there again this morning and bought croissants. We went to Archie Brown's and bought a green smoothie too.
We walked to the harbour after and saw someone my husband used to work with. Very weird coincidence as we didn't expect to see anyone we knew here. He said it was a really nice place to live.
I'm about have a bath at the hotel and then we are going for dinner and then to see a film.😍

Nice afternoon bus ride then a good wander around the shops, I was going to have a coffee in my favourite cafe but decided to have a cuppa instead in a different place, nit bad and reasonable but not a patch on the hot chocolate. Meandered down the a nice butchers in St James Street and bought some sausages for my grandsons when they visit at the end of the month Their favourite is bangers and mash and the butcher does really nice home made ones .Not cheap but worth every penny
Then a bus ride back and home to see that the plumber has got all the pipes installed for the shower and radiator and loo etc. The stud partition wall comes down tomorrow so from now on the builder will be here every day for the next 3-4 weeks. The kitchen is being rejigged as well the house is in a bit of a mess with stuff being moved from room to room but it will be worth it in the end
Short trip to Westridge Tesco's tomorrow to drop some paperbacks off at the charity book shelf just inside the door than a little shopping as the builder seems to appreciate the bacon sandwich with his mid morning cuppa
the rest of the day I think will be a pottering one as the garden tubs need 'putting to bed' the heavy stuff I leave for Kyle our lovely gardener ,but I can manage to pots OK
Hope everyone has enjoyed their day

It’s a beautiful day today. So glad it is nice for you to enjoy your holiday @Wednesday2000, albeit with some heavy showers.@leftatthetrafficlights - quietest times for Cornwall are avoiding school holidays, including private school ones and bank holiday weekends and weeks. Monday to Friday ideally. You don’t want to be driving southwest on a Friday if you can help it! Autumn and Winter are lovely and although some things can be closed the beautiful scenery is always present and it is nice to support the businesses during the off season. Personally I love the beaches during the wilder weather, with the taste of salt rather than hot sunshine and wafts of sunscreen.@t14cy_t - That sounds great! Hope you have some good finds. I haven’t seen a jumble sale advertised in ages.I haven’t been at my best but am applying myself to doing all the right things to feel better. I am being more disciplined about taking my vitamins, keeping up with fluids and good nutrition. The last is the hardest as I go off my food easily and don’t then feel like cooking. I have been doing more freezer preparation so I can separate the processes of shopping, preparing and actual cooking which is less exhausting for me. Mentally, it is difficult to accept this slowing down and breaking things into smaller tasks when I used to be able to gear up and plough through everything in one go. I definitely need to work on acceptance as part of slow living. My trousers are almost sewn and just require me to make a final decision on the hem length; I can’t quite make up my mind. I am pleased with the fit though. Next up is a cosy hoodie and I will trace my size off today. I also love that it is the season for apples and plums so will have lots of cakes and crumbles to enjoy in the coming weeks. I will try to get some chutney made at some point too. The Christmas books have been gathered together, ready for planning and experimenting with some different baking. If I start now I can be more leisurely about it instead of my usual mad panic!
Best get on now that I have finished my fruit tea. Hope you all have a lovely day6 -
I'm having a really lovely day - I spent the morning writing, then had a fabulous 'spa day' shower and have just finished a wonderful yoga nidra practice 😍 I'm going to do a bit of cleaning and cooking shortly then some bouncing on the rebounder (best investment ever - i love it!!) followed by a bit of reading with some meditation music on while I await the arrival of ds and his family for dinner 😁 I am feeling very chilled out!
@Nelliegrace - your walk on crunchy leaves sounds fabulous!! 😁 I'm hoping to do the same at some point but we've had such a vast amount of rain recently I'm struggling to find any!! 🤦♀️ Fingers crossed we get a bit more of a dry spell or it may be that I just have to venture out to the woods earlier when we've had a frost 😉
@Wednesday2000 - I hope you enjoyed your film 😁 very weird meeting an ex-colleague of dh's - it really is a small world! 😳
@London_1 - I'm glad you enjoyed your day out 😁
@t14cy_t - I hope the jumble sale is good and you find some things you like! 😁
@Moorviews - thank you so much for the information for a Cornwall visit!! 😁 It's really helpful - it's really the scenery that I want to visit for so some things being closed doesn't bother me at all 😉 I also prefer beaches in poorer weather - despite ours being pretty deserted in comparison to proper tourist places, I only visit it in the evenings during the summer (unless it's a weekend visit with my grandbaby) as I can't be doing with lots of people 😂 You're absolutely right about working on acceptance - it's so hard to change the mindset that everything has to be done immediately and in one go, but once you make the change, it's liberating 😁 We'll done on the trousers - I have no sewing abilities so am in awe!!
Dinner tonight will be a the mushroom and walnut bolognese and tomorrow will probably be a variety leftovers as there's still some curry and banana blossom stuff left too!
Speaking of food, I've recently started watching broccoli mum on YouTube - some really interesting sounding food on her channel including red lentil waffles and quinoa wraps so I'll be making some of those next week - she's a bit manic but I like her enthusiastic presentation style as well as the content so I've subscribed to her channel now. I do love finding interesting content creators who have a real passion for what they are doing!
Okay, time to start my afternoon stuff - have a fab slow day!! 🐌 😁

We've had visitors to our lounge doors 2 nights running. Wednesday it was a little orange cat face and then last night we first had a fox and then a while later a tabby cat!
Cats are not uncommon in our garden - particularly since our Ariadne shuffled off to the great litter tray in the sky a couple of years back. Foxes are less common but the OH believes this might be one of the kits that grew up in our garden last year - some of them used to come and peer into our lounge to see what we were watching on TV.
Not too surprising with all this activity we missed the aurora that was visible all around our area.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
