I disagree.cymruchris said:Grumpy_chap said:
In fairness, I understand that the dashcam was installed by the original supplying dealership prior to collection by the OP. A Franchise Dealer (of any brand) should be sufficiently knowledgeable to correctly wire in a car dash cam, know that it requires an ignition-switched circuit and to connect appropriately.cymruchris said:GoldenOldy said:The caris a tuscon hybrid ultimate. The cameras are nextbase. Apparently they are not wired to the ignition(?) so dont go off (not sure how you can tell), but the aa man unplugged it for me anyway to be on thesafe side.
So it sounds like it wasn't the car at fault? But the accessory that was fitted to it?
Totally agree - but the OP said it didn't turn off - so it's the fault of the accessory rather than the big, expensive shiny new car as the OP was concerned about....
Not the fault of the accessory but the way the accessory was installed.
You're splitting hairs now - what I've tried to say several times is that it WASN'T the big shiny brand new car at fault - which was the major cause of concern that the OP came here originally posting about. It was an external factor. The dashcam. I didn't go into the why's and wherefores of the product or the fitting - just that it was to blame, and not the big shiny brand new car.

Ok, heres some weirdness. So the lead that the AA disconnected wasnt the actual lead, it was the feed to the back camera.
i started ignition today, no signs of life from dashcam. No wifi, no nothing
Bought it in the house and put it on charge. Reconnected my phone to it.
it then showed that it had been recording bits n bobs (thats how i know the aa hadnt disconnected it!)
Then just put it back in my car.
There are two little blinking lights flashing when my car is switched off.
I also watched a video of it being fitted at the dealership on my phone, but wonder why it didnt record on the way home?

Halfords fitted me a next base in my Jag 4 years ago and I've not had a problem
For the sake of a few quid perhaps Halfords would check it for you
