  • Any news from DVLA?
  • Chatted with DVLA assistant via their chat help service on Jan 23rd and they said my emails have been received and they are in the process of dealing with it.

"Agent (2024/01/23 10:07:38): It will be processed, the relevant team will contact you once this has been done."

I kept a copy of the chat transcript. Not heard anything from DVLA, DCBLegal, or Court since.

  • New Letter (dated Feb 1st, arrived Feb 8th) arried today from the DVLA regarding the vehicle correction request.

"Thank you for the reply about the details we hold against the above vehicle.
Our records also show that the vehicle registration certificate (V5C) issued to your address was used to tax the vehicle.
Our records also show that the vehicle registration certificate (V5C) issued to your address was used to notify us of the sale of the vehicle.
For me to investigate, please could you provide an explanation of how the above may have occurred:"

Then there's a section to fill in.

Don't know what to say othere than what has already been given to the DVLA i.e

    Email sent to DVLA #1:

    Email sent to DVLA #2:

"I write further to my email timed at [    ] on 17 January 2024 (copied below).

For the avoidance of doubt, I have never kept this vehicle or applied to be registered as the keeper of this vehicle.  However, I understand that DVLA did register me as the keeper of this vehicle, with which I have never had any connection.  That registration was incorrect, either as a result of an error by DVLA or by deception on the part of an unknown person.

As a matter of urgency, please issue the necessary correction"

  • I wouldn't be so polite in any response to the DVLA if I had received the response: "For me to investigate, please could you provide an explanation of how the above may have occurred". In my opinion, a response should have included a question about the level of intellectual malnourishment at the DVLA if the need for that question was posed in the first place.

Then again, I enjoy a good rant and I would also have raised the possibility that the person who fraudulently registered the vehicle in my name and address, did so in order to avoid traffic penalties and, in this case, avoid liability for a PCN. It is not beyond reasonable doubt, because milking the cash cow known as the "ex-clampers mutual benefit society of unregulated parking companies" is so easily facilitated by the DVLA in the first place.

There... that feels a bit better.

Unless @troublemaker22 fancies writing something more legally worded for you, I'd send something like:

    Dear Mr/Ms. xxxxxxx

I am shocked by what you are telling me.  I have already explained that the vehicle has nothing to do with me or anyone in my household.

I know you are only doing your job and I assume you have to ask me these questions in order to eliminate me, so my answer is as follows:

I have no experience of this sort of criminality and can only guess what the perpetrator might have done to presumably intercept the V5C. I have never seen this V5C or the vehicle.

If you are saying that the person impersonating me notified you of a sale of the vehicle at some point, then you will have that new keeper's details and could perhaps ask them for a description of the person who sold the vehicle, and from what address.  Surely your investigations team has come across this before?  I haven't.  This is a nightmare and I am begging you to help end it.

    yours sincerely,

Probably all done online using the 16 digit number from the letter that someone intercepted.
