Dcb Legal/County Court Claim Form - PCN from 2019

Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some guidance on what I should do regarding the claim against me. Issue date of the letter is 07/12/23
The claimant is seeking £320 for a PCN from 2019. Reason not displaying a valid permit.
It seems way over what's reasonable. I've also had an email from Lowell Group stating they have been trying to contact me, I googled them and appears to be a debt recovery company.
Unsure how they got my email address.
Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Who is the Claimant?
Is this a continuation of a story started on any of your other threads on this parking board?
Best to keep everything about one incident to a single thread.
It saves having to ask, and answer, the same questions more than once.1 -
With a Claim Issue Date of 7th December, you have until Thursday 28th December to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 9th January 2024 to file your Defence. That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.1 -
Hi, thanks for the reply. It's Spring Parking Limited. Yes I believe it's a continuation of the old thread it went dead for awhile. Apologies if it is repetitive.KeithP said:Who is the Claimant?

OK, I'll follow the steps you've outlined here Keith, does the thread contain suggestions on how I might file a defence as I don't really have any ideas at this stage.KeithP said:With a Claim Issue Date of 7th December, you have until Thursday 28th December to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 9th January 2024 to file your Defence. That's over three weeks away. Please re-read my post that you have just quoted.ATK86 said:

In particular, the sentence starting... "To create a Defence...".1 -
Lowell Portfolio is nothing to do with a parking charge. That will be about something else.
Please show the Claim form but cover the Claim No., MCOL Password, your data and your car VRM.

Here's the form they sent. I have read all the information it's a lot to digest but very helpful.
I don't think I have time/confidence for all the steps required, the thought of appearing in front of a judge and speaking terrifies me.
If I rang them and agreed to pay them directly is it likely to stop all of this?

Have you seen this video?...ATK86 said:I don't think I have time/confidence for all the steps required, the thought of appearing in front of a judge and speaking terrifies me.

Just three or four people sitting round a table having a discussion.
That video was made a few years ago and many hearings nowadays seem to be via telephone or video link.2 -
Just watched it, I'd probably be so nervous I'd sound really awful. Especially coming up against professionals.
Do you know Keith if I rang them to pay it off directly, would it stop the court claim at this stage?0 -
Jolly good!
Dead easy to defend using our resources. And read other Spring claim threads (we have a few) as you need Johnersh's technical point added about the PO Box.
There won't be any hearing as this case will never see a Judge's room. You know from other threads that DCB Legal always discontinue before hearings. No worries there.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
