I am recovering slowly from my fall but it has hampered workouts / walks and of course the bike rides. So a slower week but updating nonetheless. Oh and the official lecture title was "Africa Lecture Series: Principal in Conversation with Professor Adam Habib" Adam had spent the first part of his adult life disrupting the norm of segregation in Universities and the second part in building up universities post-segregation. He talked a lot about the current funding model in UK universities and our need to challenge. As I'm about to take on interim director of my department I certainly made a lot of notes! But now for my last week:
2 fiction books finished (Dunnett's The spring of the Ram and May's The Winter Grave)
1 film I'd never seen before: Dr Zhivago
1 job off the to do list: strap for accordion case
2 litter picks
1 academic submission (6 week summer student, heard end of the week successful)
1 lecture as stated above and another '35 years in health informatics' - this challenge has been wonderful for getting me to make time to see some of the fabulous lectures available in the University - turns out this guy (retiring after 35 years) has worked with 3 people I have also worked with at the Uni, but at different times - also planning 50th birthday party for my Centre next year and met another 2 people who have previously worked there (way before my time) so they will all get invitations to the big party.
1 things for me - finished my astronomy course
3 foods named after places: worcester sauce, brussels pate and pontefract cakes
1 soup (cauliflower and coconut)
1 baking (bread rolls for the above as had friends round for lunch, very yummy!)

Time for my monthly update (I think I should change it to weekly as it may help keep me on track 🤔)
1) 24 mins of housework daily - Not done daily but definitely at least 75% of the time. I'll be stepping this up this month
2) 24 mins of asana practice daily - nope, it's been difficult for a number of reasons but I have started over the last few days
3) 24 mins of walking daily - I've managed this over the past week
4) 24 mins of self-care daily - Yep! 🙌
5) 24 mins of writing daily - Mostly done, just missed a couple of days due to being away
6) 24 mins of gardening weekly - nope, but since Thursday I've done hours of it every day so everything is now sorted ready for daily maintenance 😁🙌
7) 24 mins meditation weekly - over and above with this - I'm doing a minimum of 15 mins a day!
8) 24 days of Italian practice monthly - not done - started it again and did it for the first week but I didn't enjoy it at all this time around! 😔 I'm changing this to studying nutrition as I don't want to continue with the Italian
9) 24 days of strict WFPB eating monthly - I've done at least 20
10) £24 reduction of monthly grocery budget - I've managed this!! 🙌 I've put the money away as soon as it comes in and work with the smaller amount
11) 24 alcohol free days monthly - Yep!! 29 days in March despite being in numerous situations where alcohol is normally involved 😁 I'm very proud of myself for this 🥳
12) 24 NSD'S monthly - Yep, 27! 🙌
13) 24 'home spa' days within the year - 2/24 only 2 this month 🤦♀️
14) 24 tech free days within the year - 2/24 on my 'spa' days....

'It's the small compromises you keep making over time that start to add up and get you to a place you don't want to be'3 -
I've decided I'm changing one of my targets. The spending 24mins per day deleting photos, emails etc is taking less than 2mins now, and it's becomming something that I don't even need to focus on now.
What I do need to focus on and challenge myself on is my kitchen cupboard/drawer doors and house doors. I decluttered 3 drawers yesterday and oh my goodness the state of my kitchen cupboard doors isn't even funny. I usually do give them a quick wipe down and clean, but it's clearly not enough.
So I'm going to focus on scrubbing and deep cleaning a door, drawer or cupboard. I've got 24 in the kitchen alone, and I'll focus on one each for now. I'll also spend 24mins giving the doors of the house a good scrub, in the hope to eventually paint them.
So as of yesterday and my new target I'll add an update lol.
