Maxjet Gone Bust

I am speaking to you at this moment in Las Vegas, where upon checking my emails was told that my ride home has gone belly up!! I have been trying for 2 days to speak to someone at either of the emergancy numbers given to see how they are getting us home, but waiting 1 hour on each number with no sign of being connected I am starting to get a little worried. I assume that they are really busy, and we are not due to leave here till the 3rd. January, and it has been outlined in the email that we will probably be getting a lift from virgin, but that is the least of the problems. As virgin only fly to Gatwik and my car is at Stansted, getting from a to b with 4 large suitcases with 32KG each in them might cause a small problem. I will keep you updated on my progress.
Good luck stoneman. Hope you get sorted0 -
My friends have flights booked with maxjet for June 08, is it worth waiting to see if anyone bails this company out and honours the bookings or is it best just to get your refund via your credit card company asap?
many thanks

I'd go for a refund. There'll be no bail-out. By allowing the company to go bust the brand is now damaged goods. Nobody is brave enough and Maxjet themselves were working very hard over the last few weeks to come up with a refinancing package. The credit crunch is to blame. The banks got too greedy with their sub-prime lending and got burnt, now they don't want to take a risk on anything. Gill Air fell victim of the same attitudes post 911.
Great shame really.Timmay!0 -
Unfortunately it looks like I've lost out - paid for the flights with my debit card and not my credit card and bank have told me they will not refund me. Only option is my travel insurance but I have a feeling this situation will not be covered! Have learnt a valuable lesson - will always use my credit card in future when purchasing anything on the internet....0

I don't know if customers advance payments would have been ringfenced in a clients account.
You may get something back via this route but it might take years!0 -

I thought about you when I heard - thought you might be in Vegas but couldn't remember your dates. Will think good thoughts and hope it's all sorted with the minimum of hassle for you.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks all for your kind regards, will keep you posted as we aren't due to go back till the 3rd. BTW, it's bl**dy cold out here at the moment, and in all the years I have been coming out over the Xmas holidays, I have never seen such crowds, it is gridlocked out here, I think peeps have caught on to this place:rolleyes:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
