    I did not anticipate how much of an incentive, seeing the interest amount on the mortgage decrease, was going to become - approaching obsessive, "where can I find £x from to make the next OP?".
     @Suffolk_lass  This was me to the letter, especially during the last two years before we bit the bullet and made the decision to finally pay it off completely, which was five years and six months early and slap bang in the middle of the pandemic  o:)

    Not having a mortgage to pay, let alone the feeling that ‘it’s all ours’ was worth all the sacrifices and penny pinching on its own. The single biggest benefit, however, is diverting the amount we paid in mortgage payments ( not including overpayments ) straight into various high interest savings accounts every month now!

    Whenever people ask how we did it I always tell them to overpay anything they can afford and to remember…Every little helps!

    OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
    I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
