NST December 2023 The Most Wonderful Time Of the Year?

Thank you for the kind comments about my husky. She wouldn't eat last night, but finished off her food tonight. She really has been enjoying going out with the man. I do hope it works out for her as I feel she has suffered a lot not having much human contact and playmates.
Today was mostly about food - in that we don't seem to be able to get things evened out here. We actually have too much food. I took another box of food containing a lot of fresh vegetables plus other foods to the neighbors. But my one roommate who likes to do the cooking seems to cook for 8 instead of the 3 of us who are eating here, and we have so many leftovers. We had to clean out the refrigerator today to fit some of the food that was delivered into it. The amount of leftovers is upsetting. Usually he has the leftovers for either lunch or breakfast. But a lot was left and forgotten. Much of what he cooks I can eat in only limited amounts due to the gastro problems. I actually went to the Gastro doctor this morning who has scheduled me for an endoscopy at the end of January. Spicy foods and I don't get along. Other foods often give me trouble. So I have tried to convince him to slow down, but he actually made up three boxes of macaroni and cheese tonight (each serves three!). With the added chicken, it looks like it can serve 12 easily. So I will be packing more leftovers into the refrigerator.
Today was a no spend day. Doctor's visit was free. Picked up cat litter and cat food I paid for yesterday, and then didn't go out again until time to go to the FamilySearch Center. So NSD 3.
Mostly a quiet day except for cleaning up after cats who were upset because it took to long to get them fresh cat litter. And the one cat who jumps up on my keyboard every few minutes. She is ready to attack again.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Happy Hanukkah. I like to celebrate every holiday out there when I can - used to try and convince my teachers I should have Jewish holidays off too as we were practicing the Judeo-Christian religion. Unfortunately, my teachers knew where I went to church and wouldn't let me have the extra holidays off. Now I can celebrate whatever I want to. Today is Pearl Harbor Day at my house - my father was there in Hawaii serving with an Army unit. My sisters and I have been members of the Sons and Daughters of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Yesterday I was wfh alongside OH. It was nice to have his company and for him to make me coffee and tea. I took my turn too, we’re all about equality in this household… apart from when it comes to cleaning toilets. The person who makes the least mess (moi 👋) is the only toilet cleaner in our house. Trying to teach DS how to take care of his own sprinkles! At lunchtime we went to a shopping area and it was extremely busy. OH bought a shirt and I a black top for today’s friend’s Mum’s funeral. I will be trying to avoid the shops until the New Year… what am I on about?! I’m always avoiding the shops! It’s not a fun activity for me at all. I’ve never understood people who do it as a recreational activity.Grateful today for company at home, getting to aqua aerobics with Mum, for good showers at the gym, and for getting to bed early.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9

Good morning 🎄
Missed a day and feels like everybody has lots going on. Hugs to those going through tough times with their health.
I never said beanie how cute your cat was 😻 and good luck with the re-homing your doggie weenancy!
Yesterday got myself to the gym again and felt better for it. Didn't feel quite so bad for resting up the rest of the day and focussing on some self-education, and a bit of meditation. Slowly but surely going through the food cupboards and freezer contents.
Manager rang me from work as still waiting for HR meeting with her (due Monday) to tell me it will need to be virtual. She is having a difficult time of things with her parents (not local). Not ideal but life happens, and I am sending her lots of positive supportive vibes. Both agreed we need the meeting to move things forwards.
Today I am grateful for:
1) My budget balancing app
2) Both parents being settled and safe
3) Online content creators
Yesterday = spend day (bought a lottery ticket!)
Today = NSD number 4
Happy Friday everyone 🥳🎉

Had a text message last night saying my pills would be out for delivery between 10 am and 5 pm today. Was awake for several hours during the night so checked that DS3 was downstairs and had another little nap. Just before 10 am DS3 came upstairs to the bathroom and then got in bed. 10.o1 grabbed my shoes, laptop and reading book and got myself downstairs. The pills were here by 10.09.
I installed myself on the couch with a wool blanket under me and a duvet on top. Copious amounts of nasty stuff came out of me (mainly off my chest) so I sat dropping used tissues into a bag. I was determined to do as much as possible before I went back upstairs so 6 small bags went out to the bins, then a larger one from the kitchen and another small one from the yard then 2 of the ones I threw in the yard last week - didn't sort them but squashed them down as mostly packaging and air.
Cooked a whole pack of bacon in the microwave, ate some and put the rest aside for quiche (thought yoghurt would prolong the mucus problems). Stuck the kettle on,made a cup'o'soup and put the rest in a large pan with 2 stock cubes. Added defrosted chopped onions and a bag of stir fry then (in stages) cabbage, carrots, celery.. Took a pack of what I thought was cooked chicken out of the freezer to defrost, added garlic granules, ginger and mixed herbs to the pot.
Was going to put the sheets outside but it started to rain heavily so some are on doors and a table top. Another rubbish round up in the kitchen with a bag I started last week (or whenever I actually made it as far as the kitchen. A new load went in the WM.
Unwrapped the chicken to see if it was cooked or raw and it was beef - probably theirs but they put it in my freezer so I'm having it. Put green lentils and cashew nuts in the stew in lieu of chicken. 2 sacks of cans and bottles out to the bins and a small amount of veg waste to the green bin.
Shocked to find it was nearly 2 pm so dragged myself back upstairs to have my shower. I think blood tests are off the agenda for today (usually empty on Friday afternoons) as I need to get warm and dry and need handcream and a couple more pampering bits (on the verge of a dermatitis/ eczema attack) and I have kept going dizzy (weird dizzy). However i have brought the chopping board, empty boxes and a pileof veg upstairs with me. I also want to get the rest of the cards written (+ some letters and a book that I want to add quotes to)
Grateful for lovely stew, minestrone cup'o'soup, raw celery and carrots (eat as you chop).9 -

Today I have waited in for an invisible builder, so as I had to be here anyway, I put up my tree, rearranged the furniture in the living room, put up lights in the windows, and did the washing up. Fraid I have not managed anything else.DS1 has had his first initial interview for an apprenticeship - keep everything crossed for him please!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for some sunshine, for the Dr doubling my dosage and sending the scrip to the chemists and the chemist having the meds in stock, for dc being at school until 5 so it felt like a long time, for one last beautiful flower on a lavender plant, for the lights people are putting up on their houses, for good books, for calamine lotion (will prob have this one for a while yet!).

Thanks, @f0xh0les, @DawnW, @Thrifty_Taylor and @beanielou for your thoughts (medical and otherwise). I feel better for mentioning my sight problem and hearing your ideas. I think I'm worried I won't be allowed to drive or that I'm losing my sight. I'm also very squeamish about eyes as I had 3 eye ops as a child. I need to bite the bullet.
Managed to get out to feed birds and squirrels and did over 9K steps. OH has been poorly with a chest infection so it was nice that we could get some fresh sir and exercise.
Microwave curry and creamed spinach for tea and Choux bun for pudding. Nodded off watching Richard Osman but managed to wake up a bit later.
My DS bought a big bag of lovely wood offcuts over for the new Log burner. Shame no one uses the offcuts for making things.
Spent on food and bought some Echinacea tablets to fight off cold. Local Victorian Christmas street market was on but avoided paying about £8-£12 each for a hot dog by getting a couple of bakes from Gr*the and having our curries tonight. Not quite the same but heyho!
Went to look at some second-hand cars for OH to replace his expired one. Test drive on Monday.
Grateful for OH being a lot better, feeding the animals, a nice tea at a decent price. X

Sending positive vibes foxholes.
DH didn't go into work yesterday as he slipped on black ice yesterday whilst at work and his knee has swollen up and beginning to bruise. Due to the nature of his work he is unable to go in if he's not fully mobile. It gave him the opportunity to have the Christmas cake mixture spoon and bowl all to himself. I used my grandma's (passed away last year) recipe although i didn't use the gravy browning !!!!!!!!!. There was too much for my tin so made 2 little ones using gu pots. DH was hobbling around like a caged animal. He hates been stuck inside, especially since he was strongly 'encouraged' to write his Christmas cards😏.Christmas day family eruptions have begun and one set of family members are upset (I'd be fuming too), DH is trying to mediate.
