Or the Danish way, everyone that can receive programmes by D:R pays, so people with smartphones on mobile data contracts, people with internet connections at home, people with TVs etc etc.RumRat said:facade said:I wouldn't worry.Lucy Frazer was interviewed yesterday about the proposed massive rise in the licence fee (that Our Saviour Sunak is tipped to run his sword through and therefore deliver us from abject poverty- hooray, 3 cheers for Our Masters!!) and she was talking about recognising that "the way we consume media is changing".sounds like a "media licence" is coming, a quick bit of legislation and your ISP will have to snitch you up if any digital media goes to your address....
She didn't even allude to such nonsense in the interview.
Your ISP wouldn't necessarily know if any digital media was being received.
If they ditch the license fee then the best options for them would be to go either the German way (every household is taxed an amount toward PSB's). Or, the Swedish system (Levy a tax to everyone over 18 who pays income tax)....
Or the Italian way, where people with a mains electric connection pay by a flat rate levy on their electricity bill (and the Italian public service broadcaster RAI has adverts as well, and is rubbish compared to the BBC).Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

She is not at all happy that 400,000 people avoided the tax last year. Sorry too be a litle dimchose another email provider - something like outlook (used to be hotmail) or gmail etc. No need to put in any real identification or username. Use a free one. Have an unusual username (freddiedogsareus for instance).

Op - apologies for hijacking your thread
Op - the easiest way is to set up another email account such as google (I'm using account not address as I believe that is confusing you) using no identifiable info to set it up whatsoever and only using it to verify email accounts as and when you set up an account for anything
This way you also keep spam away from your main email account too1 -
Not sure I hate the fee more than the ads....Which is why I and many others pay for other services without them. Also the reason I record the other terrestrial channels, to fast forward through the ads.cerebus said:

Given how there's now only 4 odd channels out of hundred ish that don't show ads , it's hardly much of a change to how you view a channel if the BBC were to goto an ad model and you save £159 every year (again this is mse after all)0 -
