Just had a stress peak as despite getting supposedly put in their diary on the 12th - and ringing them twice last week to confirm - I wasn't booked in the movers' diary. They are going to still sort it thankfully. They will move my pots and have subbed out tomorrow's work. I don't need this kind of drama!!4 -

Thanks EH - absolutely!!! It did make me chuckle @h@Humdinger1
Well my visions of sunshine and roses and being so organised I was able to make art the day before the move... didn't quite pan out. DS arrived around midnight after a horrendous journey and I had to say - I'm really sorry but I need your help.... I was up until 2am trying to finish packing and failing. The movers arrived before 8am!! They packed really quickly but when they got towards the end one truck despite bringing a spare - they said can you fit the rest in your car... I didn't realise they'd left some stuff upstairs etc so naively let them go... Cue me and DS frantically trying to play tetris between 2 cars to get everything in. In the end I had to fill 3-4 rubbish bags over and above the full black bin and rang the buyer for permission to leave them.
My buyers came around 1pm - I had a remote EA - so I had to be there for the keys. By the time I'd finished hoovering it was pretty much then. While I'd have liked that part to be smoother - it was better than my last move!! So glad the plants were moved the day before. I then only got to this house around 2.15pm and the movers left around 5.40pm. DS went and got a McD for lunch but I didn't fancy that so had nothing until Nand0s around 7pm ish.DS left for a B and B we'd only just booked around 8.30pm. He's due back in the morning but then I need to help him with an online appointment. Timing sucks!!
I''m utterly exhausted and my whole body aches. The cat only arrived just before the movers were due to leave so that was also panic inducing. I had to crate him then - and he did what cats do when they are scared half way through my journey so that added to the joy of the day... When we got here I put him in the bathroom and then let him out on a phased basis. Initially he wouldn't come out even when I opened the crate door. He's still confused and coming for lots of cuddles.
But I'm in... My cleaner is coming for a few hours tomorrow to help unpack. DS is working remotely all day so while he may be here - he won't have much time to physically help - and then he has a very long journey home again. A relative was wanting a video tour - erm - no!! This is not utube - and the house has boxes everywhere and it's still chaos. EH - I think my movers were great in the circumstances as last minute stand ins but - they weren't as flexible as yours but it was a very long day. I did tip them £20 each so they seemed really pleased with that. Thanks for your suggestion.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I did a £ shuffle. It was surreal to see such a large amount of £ in my bank account.
Repaid family member their original 'gift' - to rebalance the relationship and their circumstances have changed.
Lent a close family member £1K.
Moved £17K to an ISA and another £3K to another account.
Paid the movers.
Cleared a CC.
I still have more money to move to savings and another CC to clear again - but didn't have the energy.
I've updated my car insurance address.
I've ordered a Mr A delivery for tomorrow evening.
I've just done my CTx update for both properties.
I'm still happy with the location and the house overall - but my priority list of things that need fixing seems to be growing... I had thought I might have to do the drive at some point - but it's an unusually short drive so if I want to avoid sticking out onto the pavement I've had to park skew-wiff despite it being supposed a 2 car drive. Probably being too perfectionist again however the drop kerb isn't the full width of the drive and I caught my car on the unexpected part of the kerb. I assume the shortness is due to the garage - which I'm not sure if it was original or not....
The house is really warm though which is a big positive. Just all the light switches are in the wrong place. I knew the flooring needed doing in two rooms but it is worse than I thought so want to prioritise that. I knew there was no electric in the utility area or the garage but again that for me is an urgent fix... The plumbing all seems to work but the pipes aren't lagged and are 'loose' and it all needs tidying up etc... The kitchen is all shiny - but I wouldn't have laid it out like that and I'm struggling with deciding where to put stuff. My cleaner will help with that tomorrow I'm sure.
I'll feel better when everything has a place and I can put pictures up. I'm moving a 3 panel bought picture up to my bedroom - and have propped a glass one up in the kitchen. My plants are bringing a lot of colour to the house which is nice. It will come together but I have a whole load of trades to deal with first.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

So glad to hear from you and that you are finally in your new home. Sounds like the usual chaos involved in moving, but it all turned out OK in the endI'd give it at least a couple of months to settle in and give yourself time to work out the layout of the house and how you want it to work for you.... doing things too quickly can lead to costly mistakes (don't ask me how I know!) There's no rush now, you've got time to breath before you put pressure on yourself.... just make sure you stash the money somewhere safe whilst you work it all out (no spending sprees)Great that your cleaner is coming tomorrow (today!) I'm sure you'll get a lot sorted whilst she's there.Hopefully you'll have a restful night and wake up feeling refreshed. XXX
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy3 -
Thanks Dawnybabes and Crystal
My views are stunning. I took a photo around sunset. The night sky is also beautiful with twinkling lights. Finally in bed but struggling to switch off.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
