Glad you glad you were able to access the garage and get what you needed out of there 😊
Well done on the energy provider switch 😊

Ref the meds - it all sounds quite complex ….
    Two thoughts:

    1. Ask for a review with the pharmacist - might help to talk it through with someone who should know how all these things interact, might be able to provide a smaller daily dose of some meds rather than trying to remember to take twice a week etc etc.?

    2. ‘Project manage’ it all on a spreadsheet or similar, to map when you take what, when and what effect it has / they have. It’s a lot to hold in your head (I think) and maybe documenting it all will allow you to see a pattern or something else that you can’t see atm.

These may be idiot suggestions of course, so please feel to ignore 😊

Sounds like we are on similar HRT patches as mine is also a change twice weekly one. I was in a bit of a flap when I got it as I was concerned I'd forget, but got round it by setting a series of reminders on my phone - so from the beginning of the cycle my patch reminders pop up each Wednesday morning and Saturday evening, and tell me where I'm at and act as a reminder for a change. This morning's one said
    "Change HRT Patch
    Week 1 Patch 1"
for example - Saturday's will remind me that it is week 1, patch 2, and so on through the month. it was a little labour intensive to start with but my goodness me it was worth the effort as it really simplifies things!

Good work on the energy switch - as you say, it definitely all helps!

    Thanks KK, Beanie and EH

I had an app that was helping with meds - but they wanted to make it chargeable so I stopped using it. I had set up some HRT alarms on my phone but I think I need to reinstate them - and perhaps give them a different sound.  A relative has had similar experiences on the ADHD meds and talked to his GP about it and got nowhere. There is a practice pharmacist but I think because technically they are specialist issued meds she probably wouldn't want to interfere. I think I'll just stop taking the second med - and hope that things improve. I'm on the equivalent of private for my meds at the practice's cost as there's no NHS specialist available - I kid you not - until Feb 2027!!! I got sent a letter... I asked the chemist the other day to do the repeat ordering for me and just text me when it was ready and they agreed so really hoping that works out.

I managed to finish a piece of work that has been hanging over me - and I have a priority set for tomorrow so hoping I can be productive. It is really hard on so little sleep.

I'm going to investigate some thermal PJs and similar options - as I don't want a huge energy bill again - and this house is more open plan than the last and older so not as insulated / energy efficient. Hopefully I'll get a proper energy statement soon and find out where I stand. At lunchtime it was showing as £700 in credit but no bills since early July. Since then it seems to have updated as I submitted the meter reader's readings earlier and even though the statement isn't ready yet - if I'm reading it correctly I am £450+ in credit which is really positive. It can take a few months to make its way back to me though even after a switch I believe - but if that's coming my way that will be fab. Suggests they over-estimated how much I'd use - but then when I first moved in it was winter and I'd been really ill... I appreciate though it was building up credit for winter.

    Feb 2027 …?? Gah …. 😣

For keeping warm, I have found one of the best things to keep me warm is what I call furry, boot slippers - there’s something about keeping your ankles warm that makes a huge difference.

I have some spare meds in my car. I manage to forget my meds even when I work from home. It's not so much that I forget all together but that I take them late.

I have had my energy statement - I am £450+ in credit. They recommend leaving two thirds of that - so have agreed to refund £140+. They are also reducing my direct debit for next month. Compared to what I have been paying - I'll be £40 a month better off which is nice. It means even if I don't get my expenses I'll be able to clear the dehumidifier cost. My life insurance is increasing by around £3 a month. It currently only covers me until I'm 65 so I may look into getting cover for the period after that when currently I'm still due to have a mortgage. Not right now though. I'll add it to the list and try to resolve before my next birthday. I still want to resolve POA too - but need a working printer to help with that!

I'd best go and start my day job. Really pleased I resolved the energy situation though. My current provider would have pretty much matched the new provider's cost - but not the £44 from switching. It is wrong they don't auto move you to their best tariff as its the disabled and elderly that suffer most with that policy.

  • There is probably something obvious that I'm missing. Why do you need to extend your life insurance beyond 65? Is this a condition of your mortgage? No dependant lives with you. If you die before the mortgage is cleared but after 65 with no life insurance your estate will clear the mortgage from the sale of the house.
