Thanks KK, Jwil, Beanie, DIA, Skint and Blackcats!

It took pretty much 5 hours to 'clear the sofa' and make the living room look respectable and clean the kitchen counters. The meal cooking itself wasn't too bad. I suppose peeling potatoes was in that 5 hours too. The result is downstairs looks a lot more respectable - but if you didn't know better you would ask why I hadn't tidied before someone came as there is a lot of clutter still out. I listened to Dana as I did it - and started with trash but it was still difficult. Visit went as well as it could have done.

I feel better now my downstairs isn't screaming at me but upstairs is still bad. I need to finish doing the washing and packing for going away. Tomorrow, I need to tidy upstairs as DD and her BF will be here for the cat while I'm away and may stay over some of the time.

My art course has moved from Monday evening to Tuesday afternoon which is a bit of pain and will delay me setting off so it's a good job I'm now going by car. I still need to book parking at the hotel I'm going to overnight.

I was worried last week about my clothes - but despite having put on 3 or 4 pounds, I've shrunk around the waist. When my trousers were slipping I'd assumed I was bursting out of my trousers as that has been an issue for me previously. If I'd realised it would happen so quickly I'd have bought less in this size. My tops and dresses are fine - it's just things with a fitted waist. I bought some turquoise jeggings in the next size down a couple of weeks ago as a target and they fit fine which is a win. I will try on a few more of the clothes I'm taking with me - today and then tomorrow I may need to nip to Rmn and see what trousers/cropped trousers they have in nice bright colours the next size down. Just one of each should be fine.

I've been panicking all night as the main hotel I'm due to go to hasn't taken the money for my stay - and I can't seem to find a reservation confirmation email. I've just emailed them to confirm that I'm all booked in. Really hope I haven't made a rookie error but as far as I was concerned I booked it the same day they sent me a link in early July. Panicking in case I need to find somewhere else at short notice for a week. I only have my first and last night booked in the airport city. My deal there was due to be £640 including breakfast and dinner - so I'd probably struggle to get as good a deal if I tried to book anywhere else now.

I hope you get the confirmation from the hotel.

Hi Jwil - it will be truly ironic if I'm not booked in!!

Still not heard back. Emailed them a couple of hours ago but their English speaker may not be in yet...

Just tried ringing them - but they said busy with checkout and will respond shortly. Looking online they have availability for all but one day of my stay if I have messed up the booking but at increased cost. Will be so frustrating if that is the case. Otherwise there seems to be a room in the town but without food included which would be a shame. It was also noisier in town as they often seemed to have evening events. Really hoping I'm panicking over nothing and that perhaps the original confirmation went into my junk folder or something and got deleted.
