I'm another fan of Shark vacuums - they have extra long cables, great suction and a 5 year warranty.  This is similar to mine - shark  - I prefer the ones with the dust collection pot at the top of the handle.  My mum has the one with the dust collection lower but I find it unwieldy and heavy to manoeuvre.

    Thanks Beanie and KK.

I potted on a few more plants. I took the pot of heuchera I found in the garden when I got here - and split it into about 7 baby plants so pleased with that. It has burgundy leaves. In the last week I've noticed a plant come up in the front border under the window that I think is a euphorbia. I also have a green and white leaf type plant that could be a Brunnera.

I went to draw my wooden venetian type blind in the kitchen and it seems to be broken. It wasn't until the cleaner did the windows - so it very much feels like one step forward two back.  Hopefully the handyman can fix it - but I'm slightly uncomfortable with it not being closable. Lovely to have clean floors and windows though so trying to focus on that.

I am grateful that my house is coming together even though I still have a long list for the handyman to action. More things have a home. It will be better still when I've got rid of the excess bedding. I have put some displaced boxes back in the remaining wardrobe - and the nested suitcase still fits in there too. Next time I go upstairs I'll aim to give a few more of the displaced items a home as the handyman moved some into my WFH room which is not great timing. My new ottoman bed is much heavier to lift than I expected so I've asked the handyman to investigate a solution to that - as otherwise I can only put the equivalent of 'loft' stuff that I rarely expect to access in there.

    Seeing DD tomorrow.

Gas struts, I think they're called, like what's on a car tailgate for your bed. Your HM can get them easily enough or may have other suggestions.

Sounds like too much for your first week back, be very careful so as not to overdo it and have a set back.

    Thanks Sandy, BM and MF

That's the kindest phased return I've ever seen given where I am.

I was really hungry last night - and ate loads - probably a result of being awake since 5am. Took me a while to get to sleep. My body felt really depleted. Despite how much I ate I've lost weight. Now have 26lb to go before I could have an operation if I still need it. Part of what I ate including mackerel salad and jacket spud. I was wary of the mackerel due to the fat content but my body tolerated it which was good. 24lb lost since late Feb! I had plateaued for around the last month though - this is the first day I've broken through that plateau where I kept losing and regaining the same pounds.

Need to get dressed before DD arrives. She changed her optician appointment to after lunch. I'm confused. She was due here for lunch after with her BF - but likely to buy a rotisserie chicken to go with roasties I just need to reheat. I'll do fresh veg. Hopefully we can then get the laundry powder I need too. I may defrost the gammon just in case.

There are white clouds overhead - but it looks a bright day so far. Really nice to see the view across the plains in front of me greening up.

I need to update my spreadsheets as I spent a lot yesterday - although some of that I should get a refund on.

The news re p1p national review yesterday was very concerning and reflects how out of touch the government is with real people's lives.
