They're leaving it a bit late today, if they are taking part...
    Maybe Eon are out too!
It looks like EDF and Eon have been rejected unless I'm not understanding what's listed. Octopus and Ovo accepted.

Comment from HUGO Energy App on X

"No Winter Cashback Event Today. Our bid of £2 was rejected. Octopus bid £1.50 and this was accepted. Bidding this low means participation might become hit-and-miss for many users"

If I'm reading the right ESO DFS report, E.ON's bids were rejected, same for EDF and indeed several companies.
They were too greedy or purposely too greedy as they don't want the hassle of participating.

Ovo customer today, taken from X  "Your personal Power Move Plus target for this event is 0.3 kWh. for every kWh you shift below your target, you’ll receive £1.196 towards your energy bill."

Indeed eon.next bids at £2300/KWh appear rejected. What a strange scheme this is turning in to. Ok it's a test session but ESO are disenfranchising people interested in taking part.

Octopus appear to have been luckier with their bids twice in a row now yet with different bid strategies it would seem.

Perhaps they've had unfavourable feedback from the last one with participants getting half or less what they got for exactly the same effort on previous occasions.

The previous amount bid was too low in my opinion, but it's quite a game.  ESO might save some money doing this to tick off their required test session for the season but overall it can't be good for participation if/when the demand is a real need.

The cutoff for acceptance/ rejection was about £1750 per kWh/h

Octopus guessed well to go highish last time and go low this time.... If they hadn't then the prices paid would I think have to have been generally higher?
  • And despite only getting £1.50 per kWh Octopus are paying out £1.75 per kWh if I have read it correctly.

I've been getting my cashback through Hugo. Their bid of £2 today was rejected.

Isn't that one of the main points of the test - to see how (low) the suppliers will bid and to see how consumers will change their habits in response to how those bids are reflected in cashback they are offered?

Anecdotal sentiment across the posts on this board is that there are more "what's the point" posts on this test event. If that is reflected in the overall participation numbers ESO and suppliers are seeing, that might be setting the floor on what they need to pay suppliers in future "real" events.
