    • Work less (at my job) - I'm now down to 5 hours per week :D
    • Work more (at my biz)
    • Take over the garden - mr tru loves growing stuff so I have a battle on my hands :D
    • Click like mad so Christmas 2008 is free
    • Go through old paperwork and shred shred shred
    • Remove back door (on the side of the house) and brick it up, knock out the wall at the back and put in lovely french doors :D
    • New front door - we'll do this first, master tru's boss has a second-hand but perfect door waiting for us FOR FREE :j

    ok here's mine

    1. meal planning
    2. label everything in the freezer - no more Unidentified Frozen Objects
    3. batch cook more
    4. Keep up with the Flylist
    5. plan the veggie growing better so there's less feast and famine
    6. decorate the whole house cheaply
    7. recycle and freecycle more
    8. Use more green cleaners
    9. Where nice clothes and make up everyday instead of frumping around every non-work day

I suppose no. 10 should be something about giving up smoking - well maybe but not just yet
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Mine will have to be

stop smoking (thats £175 ish that I could then use to clear my debts)

Try to be more adventurous with my cooking ( as its just me I tend to stick to the same thing all the time)

Get the veggie patch up and running

Keep going with the grocery challenge :)

And start going out running to get fit for free

Hope you all manage your resolutions:D

:j What a great thread!!! my challenges for 2008
    • I'm getting married- as cheaply as possible any ideas/money saving tips greatly appreciated
    • continue reducing my grocery bills,
    • save for christmas 2008-didn't really save much this year-only started in october.
    • declutter the house-it looks like a war zone-reorganise storage
    • get some house repairs done-as cheaply as possible
    • continue paying extra off the mortgage-try to beat target pledged
No doubt I will think of tons more stuff when I have uploaded this post. good luck to everyone one else with their challenges.
    :j merry christmas to everyone!!!:j

Hey tattycath, Martha Stewart has a tv prog, and a triff website that gives great ideas for wedding bits. I love her ideas for wedding cakes. She also has great ideas for flowers, wedding favours etc., and it is usually quite cheap compared to the traditional.

There was a wedding planned os style a while ago on here. Can't remember details, perhaps others can. I remember loving reading the posts. It does seem to me that the difference in enjoyment between the most expensive and the cheapest weddings is very, very small.

No, don't mind who steals it, the more the merrier, maybe we can all see how each other is getting on:D

Can I join in too then?

2007 saw me FINALLY free at last of mortgage and debt - so I plan for 2008 to see me starting up some savings (apart from the £2 coin savings thing I am already doing - just in case it were ever needed to "top-up" the £3,000 stupidly low capital limit allowed if one has to claim benefits).
    .

Ceridwen, the savings limit for benefits went up recently to £6,000 http://www.disabilityalliance.org/capital.htm#Lower%20savings%20limit

BTW have you tried getting your white vinegar from the greengrocer? I get mine in big containers for the same price as a 1 ltr bottle in Tesco's. I have been told that Asian stores sell bulk quantities too but we don't have any near here.

Can I please add a few more, even if I already posted at the start of this thread (lose weight was the resolution), please? Good to keep me focused!

    - Speak, act and behave positively with all people I meet

    - Only buy what I NEED (as opposite to WANT) and buy only USED as far as possible

    - Use up my yarn stash before going to buy any more yarn (this should keep me knitting for the whole of 2008!)

    - Give full attention to my teenage children when they speak to me

    - Use my spare time wisely (e.g avoid filling it with waste activities like watching mindless tv) and fill it with enjoyable and enriching activities (knitting my yarn stash, for example!)

    - Only start a new knitting/crochet project when I have finished all the ongoing ones!

    - Put £20 away every week towards our family holiday (planned for late spring, hopefully Barcelona!)

    - 3 x aerobic (class, walk, jog) sessions and 2 x yoga/stretch sessions per week

That seems to be all for now! Lots of knitting-related resolutions, much more practical and feasible than too many food-related ones!

Good luck to all of us!

    Caterina
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • I've made a little list... see how many I can stick with!

    - Make meal plans and stick to them. Not waste food.
    - Maybe keep a spending diary
    - Try to be more organised and manage my time better (altho I seem to waste HOURS on this site!! :D )
    - Grow more veg/pick more fruit blackberries, apples etc
    - Spend more time in the garden
    - Use up things before buying more
    - Recycle more/Freecycle/ebay - Not to let the clutter overtake the house!
    - Pay off all our debts
    - Try to look on the bright side of things and try not to be 'doom and gloom' :o (I got accused of this at work!)
    - See if we could live of DHs wage, if we could then think more about starting a family

I thinks thats about it... quite a lot tho!!!
