    The more the merrier:D
  • Hi All:hello:

I could just drag out last year's post as I didn't do too well in 2007
I have 2 main resolutions for the year -

to spend less money & account for every penny by joining the monthly grocery challenges & the scarily titled live on £4000 for a year challenge on the DFW forum.

to lose 5lb each month by cutting down on wine & munchies & by adding in some exercise

My other resolutions will be "done" monthly (thanks Flylady) in the hope that at the end of each month the resolution will become second nature (worked with putting my keys in the same place each day!).

For January I'm going to menu plan, have a better idea of what lurks in the freezer & storecupboard, & cook more from scratch.

For February I'm going to study for at least 4 hours each week as I have an exam on the 13th! I'm also going to ensure I do my daily clicks as I'll need the extra vouchers/cash!

For March I'm going to concentrate on the garden & grow some veg

For April I'm going to sort out the loft (this one may break me....)

And that is as far as I've got! Don't want to be put off with a huge list at the beginning of the year....:wall:

    Good luck everyone
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    - Try to be more organised and manage my time better (altho I seem to waste HOURS on this site!! :D )
    -

The hours spent on this site are NOT WASTED!!!! Consider them as learning and focusing time!

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Think one of my New Years resolutions is to spend more time on the OS board instead of flitting around looking for good offers. I would like to be more orgsanised in all areas but will not sign up for any challenges at the moment. I will plan to start the grocery challenge in 2009!!!! It takes me a long time to get my head around anything!! I want to start a small veggie plot this year too but will take one step at a time. I would like to try and make at least one meal a month(!!!!) from scratch for the family......my OH does most if not all of the cooking. I need a foot up the backside so 2008 is going to be the year....me thinks.

I cant get over the amount of Scottish people on the OS threads!

My resolution seems really tiny compared to some of the things others are planning!

I am resolving not to have any waste in the fridge. If I buy it I WILL USE IT!

I'm fed up of throwing away soggy unidentifiable stuff that I paid good money for then left to rot. I will buy less, keep less in my fridge, and use up every last scrap, even when it's something I don't normally use that came in the veg box.

Also I'm trying to lose weight this year so I forsee loads of mixed veg soups.

A small aim but a worthwhile one I think!
Oh dear, here we go again.

I have to confess I have a tendency to have to throw stuff away:eek: Mainly fruit and stuff out of the fridge-very occasionally it looks like someone is conducting an experiment in the breadbin!!:o
I have decided that enough is enough and in 2008 I am not going to be so wasteful!!!!! and if we buy it we eat it.

    OS Resolutions?

    1) I want to read Ceridwen's Simplifying Life thread as this is a big long term aim of mine. (I keep trying - but real life, PMs and updating my regular challenges keep getting in the way!)

    2) Not to take on too much. At this time of year it's tempting to join every challenge going or commit myself to working 110 hours a week - but I'm going to "keep it real" and only take on things I can give a proper commitment to.

    3) Continue decluttering - we still have too many "things" for my liking! I see lovely minimalist homes on the property programmes and seethe with jealousy! :o

    4) Start learning to "grow my own" and getting to grips with the breadmaker and slowcooker.

5)Learn to cook some new things. I tend to add a new recipe a month and cook it a few times before I learn something else. This method works for me, but it would be nice if i could learn a bit faster!
No. Sod it. :o If I have learned 12 new recipes that I can cook on automatic pilot without reference to the recipe by next New Years Eve I think that would be good enough! :p
One a month it is then! :D

    6) Count my blessings. I may even start up a regular thread somewhere - if there isn't one already. For all my blimmin' moaning  :D:o I have a lot to be thankful for.

    Yeah. That'll do me.

    Love Jacks xxx :D

At 12.00 midnight I have decided that I am going to transform into a domestic goddess. Yes, I am going to learn to cook! I am fed up of being the queen-of-heating-things-up and am off to the library this afternoon to borrow some recipe books.

I will start to plan the family's meals in advance, make a shopping list of ingredients and cook proper meals. I will buy ingredients instead of meals from the supermarket and hopefully save some money whilst doing so, and maybe we might even lose a bit of weight as I will know exactly what I am feeding my family.

At least one meal per week will be something I have never attempted before, so my next NYE we will have tasted 52 new recipes!

So as soon as Big Ben chimes tonight I will be dashing off to whip up a souffle! :D
    Extra Payment Every Week Challenge:

    Week 2: £14.95
    Week 3: £5.05

Hi Jacks. I know what you mean re programmes on tv with beautiful minimalist look houses!!!! My house does.......not look like that unfortunately. The kids think the floor is the washbasket:eek: clothes carpet their bedroom and we have far too much clutter and it drives me potty!!!!! we have splurges of tidying and taking clothes/shoes to clothes banks etc. I occasionally throw stuff out and very occasionally the house does not look like a bomb has dropped!!!!! 2008 is hopefully going to be the dawn of a new era in that we are going to be tidier and not hoard so much junk!!!!!
ok. Rant over... feeling calmer now
    Thank you!!!

Jue have you tried the index in the old stylers (i think it is) there are loads of recipes and if there is any recipe you particularly want. Just ask and someone will help you out i'm sure. I have started a recipe file for all the one's I get from this site!!!!!:D Hope this helps
