I do have a tumble dryer which uses a lot when it’s on mind and not every wash is done early morning so they probably help a bit.I expect no more that £3-4 each time tbh as I couldn’t use 2kwh unless the event was longer so i can’t see it being any more but happy nonetheless. If I was getting what you were getting NonStopStress then I wouldn’t bother either. I wonder why they invited you to take part if u can’t make much from it anyway x
It all adds up if it isn't much effort for you too, then those £3 soon build up if they do it regularly. Nice to get something back.
I know seemed silly when I realised I couldn't get much back, when it first started I didn't know how much I used on those hours, soon looked into it when I got 8p back lol.1 -

The problem is it's not my peak time for electricity usage, it may be the uk average peak time but its not mine so hardly worth it. My peak time would be mornings and lunch time, after that hardly use electric. Will see what next 2 results are but if its pennies I just won't bother.
So to that end if you have a smart meter I hope you have a tariff that rewards you for using energy when you do?
A lot has been answered much better than I can buy @QrizB but yes there are tariffs that reward using energy away from peak periods. Traditional tea times as such 4-7pm when children and family all home, all the lights are on, TVs, pc, oven, kettles etc etc and this is called the peak times when the national grid tell more gas powered electricity generators to turn on and even spark up coal stations. Hence using power during these times is far less green than the periods you mentioned.
The smart meter tariff Agile has been mentioned as one such example.
Other tariffs are available and they are called TOU. time of use tariffs0 -
So, to make the most of future Beat the peaks, would it be best to try to use most of your electricity during the peak time from now on, so you make more of a saving going forward? Doesn't that kind of defeat the object though?0

I had a look into the octopus agile that sort of tariff wouldn't suit me.
But thanks for the suggestions.
Either way beat the peak is useless for me, is what I was originally saying.0 -
