I got it lol yay thank you!! Definitely I generally only use about £3-£4 odd a day obviously most on days I do washing but I hold off as much as I can as it’s a big enough machine and dryer! I had no idea how it worked either then I looked into mine lol sometimes I only use 0.7kwh hour about that time and sometimes just over 1kwh but it all adds up and so I’ll keep camping in the dark during the events for now lol. Maybe even start showering between those times so my usual usage goes up 🤣🤣[Deleted User] said:
Took me awhile to realise you just click "quote" at bottom of the message and add your reply, but I got it anyway.Niceonej said:I’m not sure how to reply to individual messages but yes I would usually cook something between those times in the air fryer and have 3 TVs plus a PlayStation on plus lights, heating boiler etc but washing I don’t do every day as I can’t afford it and a lot of the time I set the timer for early morning so it’s done for when I get up. I do have a tumble dryer which uses a lot when it’s on mind and not every wash is done early morning so they probably help a bit.I expect no more that £3-4 each time tbh as I couldn’t use 2kwh unless the event was longer so i can’t see it being any more but happy nonetheless. If I was getting what you were getting NonStopStress then I wouldn’t bother either. I wonder why they invited you to take part if u can’t make much from it anyway x
It all adds up if it isn't much effort for you too, then those £3 soon build up if they do it regularly. Nice to get something back.
I know seemed silly when I realised I couldn't get much back, when it first started I didn't know how much I used on those hours, soon looked into it when I got 8p back lol.1 -

I have never heard of a tariff that rewards for using off peak energy, i pay per unit kwh whether its day night morning or evening. Do you have a suggestion as someone more knowledgeable than myself?MultiFuelBurner said:
Well then you are already doing your bit for being green and using energy outside of the peak times.[Deleted User] said:I'm starting to think its pointless, first time I made 0p and second time 8p!! Not sure about the last 2 as results not in yet. The problem is it's not my peak time for electricity usage, it may be the uk average peak time but its not mine so hardly worth it. My peak time would be mornings and lunch time, after that hardly use electric. Will see what next 2 results are but if its pennies I just won't bother.
So to that end if you have a smart meter I hope you have a tariff that rewards you for using energy when you do?
A lot has been answered much better than I can buy @QrizB but yes there are tariffs that reward using energy away from peak periods. Traditional tea times as such 4-7pm when children and family all home, all the lights are on, TVs, pc, oven, kettles etc etc and this is called the peak times when the national grid tell more gas powered electricity generators to turn on and even spark up coal stations. Hence using power during these times is far less green than the periods you mentioned.
The smart meter tariff Agile has been mentioned as one such example.
Other tariffs are available and they are called TOU. time of use tariffs0 -
So, to make the most of future Beat the peaks, would it be best to try to use most of your electricity during the peak time from now on, so you make more of a saving going forward? Doesn't that kind of defeat the object though?0

Yes sadly 🤣 but hopefully for a few quid the majority won't do this.Swipe said:So, to make the most of future Beat the peaks, would it be best to try to use most of your electricity during the peak time from now on, so you make more of a saving going forward?0 -
I was joking.. I don’t have the time for that lol I’m doing as much as I can and I’m happy with what I get back nor am I sure that would even work lol. I can’t use anymore electric than I already do as I can’t afford it as it is never meant use more 🥹Swipe said:So, to make the most of future Beat the peaks, would it be best to try to use most of your electricity during the peak time from now on, so you make more of a saving going forward? Thanks. I do understand what peak time means. My point was more that I don't think anyone is being more green by using the same electricity but at different times, it just shifts the problem around. I believe the reason for beat the peak was to stop the strain on the grid in one time to prevent Blackouts, nothing to do with being more green. Being more green would be cutting out usage all times, shifting the problem around surely still generates the same pollution, just spread out a bit.MultiFuelBurner said:

I had a look into the octopus agile that sort of tariff wouldn't suit me.
But thanks for the suggestions.
Either way beat the peak is useless for me, is what I was originally saying.0 -

I can only imagine 🙀. Luckily gas shower doesn't use much i could stay in it for hours lol, so I probably should look on the positives.Niceonej said:
