mmmmikey said:Octopus bid has been accepted, but don't expect this to be a money spinner as their bid was half what it was for earlier test sessions. Next step is to see what they're offering to us and allowing us to opt in.0

Less than a £1 potential earnings for me today.Nothing to lose by opting in, but I suspect that many won't bother as the savings for them have been so low to make it not worth the effort. I can see there is benefit in experimenting with different price levels as the testing continues. But at the same time I wonder if the scheme will just fizzle out as a result of people not bothering and becoming dis-engaged. Time will tell - be interesting to see if the scheme is run again next winter. I suspect that the scheme costs as much to run as it saves and the real objective is bringing people round to the idea that they can save money by load shifting in the hope of encouraging take up of smart tariffs. But who knows?2

Opted in, not sure what's planned for dinner tonight but turning the heat pump off is usually a winner (though getting smaller now with the warmer weather) so we'll see. It's definitely not even worth trying to get anyone else on board, the person doing the coming has the highest mental load of the whole household and doesn't need anything extra unnecessarily.
If it were a live event I'd speak to them about it because it would be much more important, but it's not.0 -
What do we think out of the 50% smart meters out there in the domestic wilderness only 2-3% take part in these events?0
