I get a feeling there are going to be diminishing returns here though with this being the third one in a week. Certainly in my world I don't think it will be earning me much!

I think they disregard previous saving sessions, otherwise it would create a negative incentive.

I'm not sure what was meant by diminishing returns, but previous days with a session are indeed excluded from the baseline calculation.

Oh dear, the tumble dryer was on which I didn't realise (in the outhouse, we don't hear it in the house unless everything else is silent)!!  Well, at least turning the heating off reduced some of the excess demand.  I probably wouldn't have opted in if I'd known about the washing though, because with a meeting this evening I knew we'd be cooking earlier than normal too.  Whoops.

Thanks for the clarification on the exclusion of previous savings sessions - that’s helpful!

Ours was a bit of washout I suspect - got got delayed getting home from work and got back to find that MrEH had been sketchy, let’s say, about turning things off. As a result it looks like the fridge compressor ran through a fair bit of it, and there was clearly other stuff going on in the background. Then to add insult to injury, when I went back to check in the app it had reverted to the “opt in” banner so I suspect it hadn’t opted me in after all! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

edit - actually, just checked and it had, so we’ll see!

I didn't turn off the Christmas tree lights or the various led Christmas related paraphernalia.

The £2.25 didn't excite me as much as £4 per kWh  but we did out bit using 140Wh down from our DFS calculated 1.21Kwh

Charged up the batteries and exported 1.8kwh.

Getting the hang of the inverter now, just need to fine tune it in terms of time charging to give enough to cover export and not run out during the session, but not charging more than I need.

Just found out about this service/app, others may find it useful to get an early indication on what they might end up with results wise: -

Oooh that's cool!  Ours looks spot on for the first session, although I guess the accuracy of subsequent ones depend on whether it accounts for not including the session days in the baseline.
If it did this it would underestimate your baseline and hence your true figures should be better. Due to the way I load-shifted (all into the half hour before each event), I don't think I'll see any appreciable difference either way.
So it turns out for the first session it overestimated by 8 points, second session under by 8 points.  I await Friday's results, looking like the big one (2984 points / £3.73 according to the API)
  • £13.12 for the 29th. Happy with that.
