Yes thats how it works, and sadly if you are on IOF then your inverter is set to export at max between 1600-1900, so if there isn't much solar during the session you can't beat your baseline. The best chance I have is to use power in the 10 previous non savings days to bring down my baseline from currently -3.3kWh. Tbh it's a ludricous system, to be able to "save" I need to use during peak. For 8.5p it's not worth it, I get 28.1p if I don't, as for the free hours well if it's sunny I could probably get 3-4 kW going in the battery, so the max I could get "free" is c 12kWh if I use Washer,Dryer,Dishwasher cooker and finish those in 1 hour. Don't mention the free coffees/kit kats etc they mean 20-30 mile round trips , sorry my time more precious.

Edit oh and tonight I see Octopus stopped my export at 1850 whilst I still had 24%of my battery left 🤷🏻

I switched off some appliances for the rest of the hour, so should have had less energy during that 'at least half an hour' slot. No solar or battery to complicate matters! In any event, wasn't this the third session this week? I think I managed it for the other two.

That why it's not worth it, so as not to incentivise anyone doing that ;) equally applicable to those of us on TOU tariffs with a 4-7pm peak (import) rate.

I have 1 happy hour I can take that I will not use this time, but noticed there is already some limited availability "11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Limited space)"

Recieved another free hour today (2 to use now) and also can't use the free hours this weekend so will have to rollover.

Noticed that slots were made available yesterday (or may even be late Thursday) so there's adequate time to book the slots.

It'll be more crucial to be on the ball as we all build more free hours in the coming weeks.

Hmm…… question for anyone with a Solis inverter. We're going to be on holiday in Greece which is two hours ahead, so there should be some opportunities to export during the power downs. For a 6-7pm power down, would you set the inverter to export between 8-9pm Greek time? Reset the time on the phone to UK and set it to export from 6-7pm? Can't get my head around this at the moment!

I don't have a Solis inverter but when I was on holiday in Asia for 3 weeks I was exporting every night. We were 8 hours ahead of UK time.

It didn't matter what my phone time was because the inverter had it's own time so I would guess all inverters are like that. I don't think your inverter would change time just because your phone timezone has changed even though you can control it remotely.

One thing I could think of explaining the time is...think of something like a security camera with the date and timestamp on it. The time doesn't change because you're looking at it remotely from abroad. Hope that makes sense!

I would just set the time to export to UK time and don't overthink or overcomplicate it.

My Luxpower inverter stays on UK time while I'm away too, maybe all of them do? You should be able to tell from looking at the app/website if it does once you get to Greece.

Have a brilliant holiday, I'm sure you'll get more sunshine hours over there.
