Octopus saving sessions

In fact reading the other thread it sounds like WhatsApp isn't that great, comment from one poster about the last session ..
"For this evening's I found I had to check that section on WhatsApp manually, which rather defeats the point of signing up for notifications"

Not overboard (Kurt Russell Goldie Horn) just listing an option for you after receiving good replies about the "why" emails are not suitable for arriving quickly for notifications.Qyburn said:
I was expressing a preference, no need for you to go overboard.MultiFuelBurner said:Of course if you refuse to opt in until you get an email that is your prerogative.
I've opted in each time after seeing the sessions mentioned here, which is obviously fallible. The Octopus app doesn't give me notifications for some reason.
I prefer email as I have no need for WhatsApp so would have to set that up specially. Octopus has explicitly said their "free electricity" sessions will be notified by email, and furthermore it seems they do send emails for at least some of these saver sessions. So it's really not clear why you're so scathing about the idea.
What you will miss out on us the short notice events (however not if you follow the forum closely as I am sure it will be notified here very quickly)
Again just explaining the whys and wherefores take from it what you will 👍0 -

But apparently they can send 5 to 6 million WhatsApp messages.MultiFuelBurner said:
Email 5-6 million people, I don't even know if that's possible quickly?Qyburn said:I don't understand why they don't advertise these by email, considering all the other emails they send out. They sent one WhatsApp message. WhatsApp delivered it to the relevant people.Email frankly isn't designed for such bulk messaging given its a relatively dated protocol and to reliability deliver millions of emails isn't cheap.2 -
