Spam filters make it difficult to send that number of emails out in a short space of time and it's quite resource intensive because each email is sent out individually. Think of it being like sending out letters. The way Octopus are using it, WhatsApp is more like putting up a notice on a notice board. The individual apps are checking for new notices so you'll see the notice when the app next checks. Not quite this simple but you get the idea - much easier for Octopus to put one notice on a notice board than send out millions of letters.

Wrong as explained above like a community notice board posting posted once and done and app notifications won't get bogged down as email spam or the resource intensiveness of emails in a short timeframe.

When they issue a short notice opt in that you have one hour to get ready for email will be useless as it's flawed as an instant communication method.

Of course if you refuse to opt in until you get an email that is your prerogative.

Have you tried logging out and back in again? I couldn't join up until I did that.

yeah i also tried that and still wont let me join

You might not have enough history with them for usage yet to be able to join but use Twitter to find out why.

i got my meter in on this tonight, had to message them on twitter and they replied that some data is missing, they then pulled the data and that allowed me to join, i'm a low user 3-4kw day, and tea is normally after 7 anyway and thats in the airfryer, just a cpl of cuppas @50w per cup in that time

Because that would stop you choosing an alternative scheme like those from Loop and as such discourages competition.

well we've got no idea how we'll do on this evening's session - it's a time when we'd usually be out on a wednesday, and sure enough, we will be this evening. We will turn standby type stuff off beforehand though, so that might help. It's completely out of our hands anyway!
