    It's good news, surely?

It means that the network is standing up pretty well meeting the demands of us all?

There would be more of them if they didn't bid so high. I guess there is a minimum below which they don't consider it worth the effort. Could also be an attempt to fulfil their prophecy that the scheme won't work on such low rewards.

Is it possible Octopus are at a disadvantage being a) so big and b) having so many people wanting to export in the time period.

Is it or are they using more of the back up gas generation?
As that is working out cheaper than trying to get people to save & having to pay them out?

This current round for any normal user is simply not worth it. Even with my higher usage with 2 EV's it borders on not worth it. Only do it for fun to see what I get.
Winners are the battery owners (good for them) but even soe of them seem to be questioning if it is worth the effort. Especially the short notice & needing to be around at the time.

I think @masonic has hit the nail on the head. Must cost Octopus to administer the pay outs.

i’m sure i read somewhere that they also put some of their headroom into their fund for helping the needy

Really should not have to opt in each time. Once should be enough.
