And they did not get it. Not many bid and the ones that did all north of 600 and rejected. Octopus don't look to have bid.

I suppose it's all part of the "let's see what the suppliers and their customers will do" experiment.

There are cheaper ways of filling the gaps, so we probably won't see many sessions and they won't be very well paid.

The cheaper methods aren't exactly green, environmentally friendly, but they are concentrating on providing a value for money service.

I guess if we don't agree with the approach we should write to our MP given NESO is gov owned. But whether we'll see change, who knows.

That said the cheap method is expensive to have on standby - gas plants paid lots of money to be on standby and charge a little bit more when actually needed. Gas is getting more expensive, so maybe things will change.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)

Or we could just do the `decent' thing and cut down a little bit when asked to, if possible?

Does everything need to come with a disproportianate financial reward for us to help?

Are we being asked to?  If it weren't for this thread I'd have no idea that anything was potentially needed.

What I mean is, if they wanted to they could still send alerts asking people to reduce usage even if there's no financial reward.  Those who are willing to do the decent thing without financial incentive would.  But as it stands you have to be proactively looking to know when the grid could do with a bit of help, and unless hearing about it from others (like this thread) then the people not proactively looking - i.e. the vast majority of the population - won't know about it to potentially do anything in the first place.
