Warning! Accused of leaving driver awareness course early! You can avoid this! Use this simple tip
I did the driver awareness course for Dorset police.
They waited nearly a month to tell me I departed early and needed to pay an extra £100.
The point of this post is that if I had been smart enough to take even one screen shot near the end of the training this could not happen to me.
please tell all your friends.
Never do a driver awareness course without taking screenshots.
Don’t delete the photos for at least two months after you have done the course.

Did you leave early?
Never been on one, do they get people to sign anything at the end to show they have completed the day?1 -
Yes you do sign at the end. And you get to keep the pen!1

It’s clear from the original post that the OP did the course online, a relatively recent innovation. If you attend in person then there would be nothing to take a screenshot of.
As £100 is the fixed penalty amount, are they also going to be endorsing your licence because of the provider’s claim that you left early?1 -
Yes! They are trying to obtain £100 and put three points on my licence.
Dorset police phoned me today.
I said ‘ I will see you in court’
They said ‘ you can debate the original offence in court but not this’.
I am so desperate that the screenshot advice gets out there and no one else has to go through this. Everyone must know to do this to protect themselves.
I said I was using the chat box all the way through. Their answer ‘ there is no evidence of this’0 -
Sorry ! To the other posters, I realise I didn’t make it clear I was referring to the online training!Because also you notice that 20 mile per hour speed limits are going up everywhere. As soon as the dust settles there will be cameras put up. Then thousands and thousands of people will be milked for money like a heard of jersey cows. That is bad enough, but no one needs false accusations of departing from the training early.1 -
I do know that cows come in herds not heards !0

It may be worth noting that Dorset is unique. It is the only force in E and W that runs its own courses, not part of the NDORS scheme, so the OP’s experience may not be typical.1

Also it’s great to think perhaps there are more safeguards for the rest of the country.0 -

It follows that if they decide you haven’t complied in some way, there is no mechanism to appeal, so things revert to fixed penalty or court. Again, that is essentially at their discretion.0
