DVLA licence renewed, signature tiny on new licence

  • The point is that many signatures are unreadable, but it should be the same one every time. Needing a magnifying glass is a different issue. I need reading glasses, perfectly ok, but how small is this signature?

This snip is larger than the actual signature. The number 7 is larger than on  the licence. You can compare your licence to this for the actual scale.

Seems to me that the signature is about the same size as the violins everyone else is prepared to play in sympathy with OP's predicament ;)

I would say that is at least half the size of the smallest signature on my license.

It's about a quarter the size of the signature on my licence that was issued in 2016. I would like to know why it's not the same size as on my renewal where they said it should be inside the signature box, but I'm becoming as apathetic as most of the people on this thread. I will pay my £20 and shut up.

    A wise decision.

FWIW, only the DVLA seem to know what purpose the signature serves. One must assume that what you have received meets their standards for that mysterious purpose.

Any other purpose for which you want to use the licence (e.g. proof of ID) is not the DVLA's concern.
  • My new licence, issued on 08 November, arrived today. The signature is about three times larger than the one on the other licences issued this year. You can see that it's my signature without enlarging it. I'm happy with the result. I take back what I said about the DVLA triangle.

    Case Closed.
