  • Got my switch bonus today as well for 27th November switch. Also redeemed £10 cashback reward from a weekend hotel bill.
    Having had so many problems actually doing this switch, I wasn’t holding out much hope so am pleasantly surprised.
    Barclays IT & “support” leave a lot to be desired.

    My switch completed on 23 November and I also received the incentive today. I will be leaving Blue Rewards, and with that in mind decided to transfer the money in my Rainy Day Saver to my (very slightly) more lucrative Santander Easy Access Saver account.

    Did an initial £5 test transfer that went through fine, but when I tried to transfer the rest was notified there would be a delay pending further security checks. Raised a query/ complaint via the in-app chat/ messaging facility and received a response asking me to call 0345 050 4585, where I spent some time convincing the operative it was my own account and money, and that I wasn't the victim of a scam, following which she authorised the transfer and it arrived in the Santander account immediately.

    I'll be leaving some cash in the Barclays current account for now, because there are a couple of DDs due to be taken in the very near future. I've already switched my remaining major DDs back to my main non-Barclays current account.

    Personally I'll keep the account, since the Rainy Day Saver is competitive and the app works pretty well, now that the initial problems have been resolved. Barclays definitely need to work on their "onboarding" process but hopefully it will be smooth sailing from now.

    Switch completed on the 5 December and received the bonus yesterday. Also received my £10 cash back a few days after the transaction was completed. I have also tried transferring monies out to my main bank account and certainly no issues now. 

    I will certainly continue to use this is a secondary account as that was always my intention and of course the £175 was the deciding factor. 

    One thing I have noticed when I applied for the account no credit search have ever been done. I have checked my Experian and the two other agencies and nothing shown. Perhaps because I have about 5 Barclaycards with them they did not bother. Also I did not require an overdraft facility.

    How do I close the Blue Rewards a/c in online banking?
    The £175 switching bonus + £10 for December cashback have been received and the app removed from phone.
    Tried closing in manage a/cs... close a/c... selected Blue rewards... no option to close just text saying it could be closed by phone, by visiting a branch or by posting a form.

    Found it...
    Call up Blue rewards a/c & select view details on right of screen.
    Then follow the thinking of leaving option and select leave now.
