I have epilepsy and still get fits when asleep but I don't have an exemption certificate for the medication, I believe many people with epilepsy don't bother with the certificate, also just didn't renew my licence in 2018 when it was due for renewal. I have never being asked by the chemist to show any exemption certificate as they just assume I have epilepsy.
      Nothing to do with railcards?

But I would be careful of ticking that you are exempt from prescription fees because the pharmacist doesn't ask you to show an exemption card. I've had a card since I was 16, I am never asked to show it.
The pharmacist assumes you qualify but they are not there to police your exemption status, they rely on you to be truthful when filling in and signing your prescription.
One year I forgot to renew, I received a fine for not paying for 2 prescriptions. They said you must have an exemption card, having a condition in itself doesn't give you free prescriptions unless you apply for a card.
