Morning all, @Valli, sorry to hear of your mum's diagnosis and your dad's ill health too. @pigpen, don't wear yourself out, get some of the big children to help. @Asparklierblonde, is it that time of year already? Our sheep will have a staycation. One of two of our neighbours rams will come to stay, in the next couple of weeks.
Yesterday I managed to water half the tunnel, then had to help OH with the car! He's replacing a wiring loom in the door, so the windows will open, without blowing a fuse. Fiddly job. Also spent time sorting out car insurance. AA sent a quote to renew a few weeks ago. £220. Got it instead with Saga for £121. Then, last week, when credit card bill came, two payments had gone out. One to Saga and another for £200 to a different insurance provider is never heard of. Spent half a day sorting that. New credit card coming, etc. Yesterday a letter from AA, to say they've taken £220 from card, on auto renew! Never signed up for that, so on the phone again. They will re-emberse us in ten days!
Flying today. DW needs filling. Two baskets of washing to be sorted and put away. I need to water half the tunnel, did the other half yesterday. Need to block up the latest rabbit hole in the tunnel. Found it yesterday, but the weather was too bad to do anything. DD1 her OH and the grandchildren will be back either today or tomorrow. Peace will be shattered.
Right off outside while it's not raining. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.11 -
Morning all
Day 3 of annual leave for me. I have realised that taking leave and just being at home with nothing much planned just means that I am thinking about work all the time.
Facial at 11.30am then off to the shops. DH is off too so wants to come.
I hoovered yesterday, there is washing to sort and a bit of ironing to do.10 -
bookcase in my room.. semi filled but I've never had shelves in my bedroom before so 2 have nice things oncleared the bed and got in it!
Wardrobe moved n the landing and a few bits put in that.
Nail appointment done..
2x wash loads in the line.. it's a bit windy so I'm hoping it dries at least a little.
2x WM .. 1 just has a duvet and a pillow in it... that won't take so much room to dry.
Squeak delivered to her friends house
OH and girls trotting to DD1's to help put up her new bed and deliver the old bed and mattress to the tip.
I've fed the girls.. having a cuppa and heading back up to my pit of a room to try and find some more space.for storage. I may have to send OH to shop for snacks.. I have a need for white chocolate buttons.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)9 -

Busy week, lots of stuff done. Polished an antique chest of drawers 12 times because Belovédhas not been polishing it and the wood is cracking. Salvaged, mostly, but the damage is permanent. Various places in the house tackled that have been gathering gribble and gunge for some considerable time. Slight improvement.Emptied one of the tumbling composters today between showers with the contents going on to the apple tree as a mulch, and started it off with a new batch. Sundeck and other bits of decking scrubbed because they were beyond lethal. Yard washed down. Two loads of washing through the machine and out on the line, played the hokey cokey for a while and it's all now indoors, drying and airing. We were both running out of undercrackers.I'm so sorry about your mother's diagnosis Valli, but I hope that now that what's been ailing her has a name that there will be some support for you all. *healing vibes* for your father.Lovely puppy Natty. May he have a long and happy life with you.Better is good enough.10

Wrote a list of today's aspirations this morning, and then forgot to click on Post Comment
Instead, here is a list of today's achievements:
- Woke up at 4.30, got up at 6.00
- Answered emails and wrote a report for the church council while drinking my second cuppa of the day
- Washed and dressed, but did not make my bed (it's still a heap, but I shall be getting back into it soon!)
- Grabbed 1/2 a bowl of porridge but no time for coffee
- Removed Rosie's travelling cage from the back of DH's car
- Dashed off in DH's car to the next-but-about-6 village to meet K and NNDN at the latter's aunt's house
- helped K load a tall CoD, 4 cushions and a lovely tall but narrow bookcase into my car; measured up a sideboard for her; grabbed an almost-new yard broom for myself
- Drove back to K's house, helped her unload all the furniture into her garage
- Climbed 28 stairs without stopping or getting out of breath, up to her maisonette, plus another 14 stairs indoors to admire the girls' bedrooms (they no longer share a room)
- K made me a cuppa, then I helped her to plan how to rearrange the furniture in her LR/DR; showed her how to change the doors on her FF so that they hinge on the other side; sorted out her under-stairs junk hole; helped her move a shoe rack; and relieved her of a bag of outgrown children's clothes and old curtains to go to the CS
- Grabbed a slice of hot pizza and a coffee on my way to Action Heart, which I ate sitting outside on a bench in glorious sunshine; had a really good cardio rehab session and was asked if I would volunteer for a few hours a week after my clinic session finishes in February (I had already thought of offering, but it was really nice to be asked)
- Dropped off the bag at the Air Ambulance CS and bought ££ dog food at the pet supermarket opposite
- Called on my friend who had a new hip 12 days ago - she is doing really well; drank tea and chatted with her non-stop for 2 hours
- Came home to find Rosie very upset by all the fireworks that were being let off in our neighbourhood around teatime; she is feeling better now they've stopped, but of course there will be more tomorrow and Sunday
- Fed myself and DH; sent him off to war games
- Had a long chat with DS1 and DGD2, who are looking forward to Christmas pud etc
- Rang K about collecting the sideboard next week, told her what I was cooking, and she immediately added herself to the list of recipients
- Finished weighing out ingredients for the mincemeat, and have now decided to bake it in the oven before bottling, as per Delia's recipe. Thank you Honey_Bear for telling us last year about this method! [Note to self: Also add to the mix some of last year's leftover cranberries from the freezer]
- Realised that 1/2 my pudding recipe is not enough to fulfil the desires of all 3 of my children and their families, the 2 of us, and now K as well, so tomorrow I must add more of the same ingredients to the mix to make it up to a full batch, which in turn means doing an extra shopping trip tomorrow to MrAl and MrT.
I shall head for bed very soon.
See you tomorrow xxx

Ionafan you manage to do more in a day than I do in a week!
House fairly clean and tidy after Mr N and I had a blitz with the incentive of a friend coming round for coffee after we'd all been out for a meal. So he cleaned/tidied the conservatory while I brushed/shampooed the sofa. I washed a load of stuff up and put one load through WM (including blanket we use on our knees on the sofa and also the bathroom mats), while he was at the gym. He finished off lounge tidying while I caught up with some admin (money stuff) and wrote a bit of a report. Team work - and yes I realise I have a real gem in him.
Filled bird feeders outside and also those hanging outside my home office.
Put away various gibble in bedroom.
So tomorrow I have to do the church flowers and vacuuming on my way back from a lake swim, then Mr N and I are off to see a show which I booked ages ago (Malevo - men in black leather playing drums: what more could I want? google the trailer......).
We have had a fair bit of rain but nothing too bad other than our conservatory roof leaked a bit and a few roads were passable with care. Have a good weekend everyone.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Having had a barrage of allergy tests run.. apparently.. I am severely allergic to..... horses!!!!!!!!!! pmsl.... they are terrifying hellbeasts as I knew all alon.. who the heck is allergic to horses?! That can only be me!!! I am actually a freak! Still waiting on a load of results but this is the funniest so far..
I went for tea with my mother.. instead of sorting the bedroom.. I did clear the airers and hang up 2 loads of wet stuff before I left.. I wasn't utterly lazy
C&C loaded the DW, washed their bedding and then made loads of mess cooking food.
I am so tired. I may need my bed.
