Feeling much clearer today (fingers crossed) but spent time sewing and watching drama. However 2 bags for life full of books went downstairs and were filed in order on the shelves. A full bin bag and a bag of bottles went to the bins (one bin was brought back from the collection point). The WM and TD were emptied and 3 clean rubble sacks of bedding and clothes were brought back up. All food from stores (concentrating on bulky items taking up a lot of room in the freezer).
It was the switching on of the lights tonight (very muted whoop) and there has been 'entertainment'. Think it was mainly 80s. The singer had a pleasant voice but sometimes went wildly off key (I did wonder if it was people who are performing in this year's pantomimes - mainly amateur). Some things were vaguely familiar and some hard to identify - not sure if I should be pleased that it took me quite a wwhile to identify 'I'm Blue (the one about the little alien). I've certainly never heard Tainted Love done C & W style (or Radiohead's Creep).
I've gathered a collection of carrier bags so my next target is to fill them and get them out of the house.
Grateful for food (especially a couple of treats I discovered hidden at the bottom of my bags - some items were unavailable so I assumed anything I couldn't see was in this category), drama (very weird follow on series suggested - I thought it was a spoof) and getting some sewing done.8 -
Today I am grateful for my morning gym session, for knitting a couple of HP gowns (miniature sized!), for online books, for dh making tea, for a mild day.

Woke at 5.15am yesterday & couldn't get back to sleep, felt quite queasy. Had some stomach ease tea & considered having the day off work, but already a third of our support team are if, so struggling to cover everyone as it is! Thankfully it eased over the morning. Lots of fundraising going in in school, think they raised the most for years. Felt quite strange going to work in my PJs but lots of others had, so didn't feel I stuck out like a sore thumb 🤣 DH panicked though, he had to check if taken a change of clothes for when I met with my friend after tea 😂🤣😂 told him we've been friends with her & her DH for nearly 30 years, I'm sure she wouldn't care what I was wearing!! Gave friend a crochet kit I'd found when sorting things in our bedroom.
Nipped in L1DL & the Chippenese on the way to mum's, was pleased I'd got a long coat on! Ate tea with mum, her treat, then changed into my jeans & went to my friend's. We went for a walk in the frosty darkness, then sat with our crochet/latch hooking afterwards. Stayed the night at mum's.
This morning I assembled mum's new hoover, then dropped sewing off in 2 different places, collected more & did the food shop. Helped DS1 sort out his car insurance after putting the shopping away, then had a nap. Unpicked 2 coat zips ready to sew tomorrow, then hooked more rug & watched TV.
Grateful for fun with mum, time with my friend, time to relax & not feeling stressed about all the sewing, etc I had to doUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Today wasn't a NSD - had to order cat food, dog food and dog bones. Most of it will be delivered tomorrow, the last item on Tuesday. Will take care of the rest of the month - except the dog bones, will have to figure out something for the rest of the month.
Health has not been good - problems getting food to go down. Fortunately I have an appointment with the gastro doctor on the 7th of December. Easy to remember the date as my father was at Pearl Harbor. My sisters and I were in the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors. There were 104 Naval Units and only 4 Army units involved - he was in one of the Army units. Had been stationed in Hawaii over 1 year by that time. Ended up in the war until the bombs were dropped in Japan when he was finally discharged. Met my mother in Oklahoma during the war when he was there for training. She was interviewing soldiers and sailors for their hometown paper. According to her, she didn't believe a word he said about how he had spent the first 2 years of the war - but wrote it up and sent it in anyway. Received a nice answer from his mother, who was a reporter for the local paper, verifying what he said. Then she decided they could go out. He then returned to the South Pacific war and they "dated" by mail for two years. Married after the war ended. Still surprised - he sent a present from overseas - a hand grenade. We still have it. Most of the powder was out of it.
Spent the day at a funeral for a fellow Friends of the Library board member. She was 97 and still on our Board Roster. We lost one last year at 103. Reading keeps you young.
No decluttering done today by me - but my roommate G cleaned out the refrigerator. Even took out and washed the shelves on the door.
Grateful for the fact I was able to order the cat and dog food and have it delivered, for making it through the day, for a roommate who has stopped drinking for awhile and is now helping out more, and for a dog that loves me - not sure about the cats.11 -
Hope you feel better soon, Weenancy. That was such an interesting story about your parents. I always think that people who seem ordinary have the most amazing experiences that they never tell anyone about. I used to love getting my Mum and aunt to talk about when they were young and how they survived the war years never knowing where their husbands were or how they were. Such incredibly strong women who just thought that was what it was and got on with it.
So, I'm just pottering. Getting things done. Himself had another fall today. Just toppled over. He's none the worse for it but it's a bit worrying.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10 -
Accidental spend day today as I forgot to order a couple of bits yesterday, including OH's birthday card. Decided to get it all out of the way today.
Had a small payout from my ebay sale which I put into my pet fund.
Felt pretty rough today, have picked up a nasty cold from OH. Today was pony share day so I did go up to see my horse and went for a quick ride but have been under a blanket on the sofa for pretty much the rest of the day. Hoping to feel better overnight as have a busy day tomorrow at work but will see how I go.9 -
I'm always amazed by what I find out about a person at their funeral that I never knew and wish I had known about sooner. One of the men working with me at a library for years never talked about what he did for a living but came in and repaired books so well you couldn't tell they had ever been damaged. And some had been in really bad shape when he started to work on them. So we just assumed that is what he did for a living. Turned out that he worked for international police agencies all over the world as he could tell if a gem was fake or not just by looking at it and holding it. There were people from over 30 countries at his funeral. Found out that my brother-in-law had played drums at his funeral. Never played them when I was around. You just never know what someone has done in the past.11

Absolutely, Weenancy. I found out that my mother had a cousin from New Zealand who was torpedoed twice in the Russian convoys during the war, Turned up on my Granny's doorstep in Scotland with only the clothes on his back to his name. They had never met him before. Just totally amazing stories. When you get it all in to perspective you just go WHAT!!!!.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.12

Good evening turtles!OH and DS were at football training this morning so I enjoyed some time to myself. I did some tidying, decluttering, and dusting. But I also had a bath, listened to my audiobook about the lives of the five women murdered by Jack the Ripper, and ordered a pre-loved (formerly known as second-hand) Monsoon skirt from V!nTd to wear at festive season thingys! The skirt was described as ‘like new’ and cost me £6.50, and it would have cost around £50 new. I hope it fits! I do not want to go anywhere near the shops until mid January when the madness is over.Had a good Sunday sweep with underspends from transport and leisure budgets going into our holiday savings and mortgage overpayments.Grateful today for ‘me time’, for time with outlaws who were over for dinner, for free audiobooks, for a good underspend this week, and for more me time this evening because OH, DS, and outlaws are away to the Scotland against Norway match.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸10
