NST: November 2023 – Sparkle

Had a productive weekend - cocking, cleaning, new jeans and dye for the old ones and a pootle in the garden. Also watched almost all of MiddleMarch on I-play 😊
Managed to get out in the sun at lunchtime for two circuits of the site today - 9.9K steps by the time I took my watch off for my shower just now - almost unheard of on a work day! 😊 Should get out again tomorrow and possibly Wednesday, but then the weather closes in … not sure I can brave that …

Today I am grateful for a meander to and from the gym, for finding black thread for the elephants' eyes, for dh's pension payments kicking in, for the washing machine, for coffee.

A lovely, calm day, so didn't dry the towels on the line.
Did an exercise routine before breakfast, then wrapped a baby present to post to America afterwards. A good day at work, until 3.30 when j realised that I'd lost one of my enamel poppy earrings 😓 I must've knocked it out when I took my mask off. Showed the other one to all the cleaners, so really hoping they find it 🤞🤞🤞
Stopped off at the post office on my way home, then dropped a bag of books ofc that I'd sold.
Found the bag with all my old mobile phones in, removed sim cards & batteries, so can take them into work tomorrow for the 5 year olds to play with. Finally got round to putting money into my sinking funds envelopes.
After tea, I replaced 3 coat pocket zips. Planning to head to bed now with my book.
Grateful for a calm day, eating healthily all day, getting lots doneUse it up, wear it out

Got back from music festival 1 yesterday (which was awesome). I did overspend a bit, but can hopefully claw it back elsewhere.
Although I was very tired I managed to get laundry sorted and do the meal plan for the days we are here. Then I popped to Baldi and Asta to get what we needed. I noticed as I was loading my stuff on the belt that the chicken was split I'd picked up, so I asked the woman in front of me, who was 2nd in the queue, just to let anyone know behind me that I was going to swap it, she said she would so I ran there and back and she hadn't said a thing to anyone! World of her own. Thankfully the other 3 people who'd started loading their shopping were nice and let me through.
Sunday: chicken roast dinner
Monday: chicken tikka (Mary Berry recipe, very nice) plus rice and cucumber raita
Tuesday: pasta puttanesca (actually have some leftover wine from holiday, and the fish will be sardines)
Wednesday: lamb koftas/ falafel and pitta, with rice and tzatziki/tahini dip
Thursday: sea bass and potatoes.
It's a bit of a dent in my attempts to be more pescatarian, but I'm trying to use up what I have in the freezer, be nutritionally good and use my time wisely this week, or I'll run out of time to do stuff. And I have so much to do! Early start tomorrow as I have hoovering and tidying to do before work. Got someone coming round to do a quote for building work, so need to minimize the grot.
Today's decluttering: just a coaster that was looking shabby. 16/60

Today went okay. I was able to arrange the appointments I needed. Though I am going to speak to the cardiologist as when I called today to make an appointment, it turned out they had received the original email over a week ago – even though they told me three times it wasn’t there.
We did the grocery shopping and G did pay for my groceries (came to less than $15) since I had paid for his earlier this month – so a NSD(#3) for me.
Some customers still haven’t had their checks come through with the bank fiasco since Thursday, so I feel very lucky with mine. I worry about it when they claim a human did it. And won’t except any responsibility for it. What if you had bills due the day you got your check? What if you needed to buy food or diapers – and there was no one who could help you out? No wonder people are upset.
And while I was trying to do family history (over 7500 contributions so far this year – aiming for 10,000), my roommate was really yelling loud – and I think it undid our Internet connection for awhile. Took several minutes to get it back on again. Probably scared the little man inside the control box (it scared the little person in my brain a lot).
My friend called from Colorado, and though she sounds horrible, she says the tea, honey, and lemon are helping. Just wish I lived closer. She and I have been on a large number of trips together – including two to the British Isles and to Switzerland but have never been to each other’s homes – we meet on a trip back in the 1980s and have been traveling together ever since. She is hoping to be able to get to Scotland this year as she found out that she is really almost 50% from the Island of Mull. This thanks to a DNA test that showed that the reason her “father” didn’t like her was that he wasn’t her real father. His ancestry was entirely German – and none of hers is. But we were able to figure out who her real father was, and she has been working on the Scottish genealogy ever since – and loving it. Trying to work out a way I could go with her.

NSD 2 yesterday but I bought honey and chicken nuggets today and while at the shop I posted one of my v!ntd sales.
DS was unwell this morning and was being sick so I kept him off school. I knew he was better when he asked for toast and then ate 4 slices! Despite him being much better than earlier today I’m keeping him home tomorrow because he has a persistent dry cough. Hoping he gets some sleep 🤞
Talking of sleep, I am going to bed. I’m exhausted. I’ll try listening to my audiobook (Breakfast at Tiffany’s) but I’ll probably fall asleep.
Grateful today for DS’s quick recovery from sickness, for frozen convenience foods (cheers to chicken nuggets), and for it being the end of the day and there being a new one tomorrow.
