Cloth_of_Gold said:Honey_Bear said:Well done Cloth of Gold, you've moved mountains today. Please don't exhaust yourself before your guests are due - they come to your house to see you, not your spotless place. As long as there's plenty of food and enough to drink, and you spend time with them they'll be happy. Having said that, even I dust when guests are due and I really, really hate dusting. Generally I think that if the bins are emptied and I've flashed the vacuum cleaner around the pethair-strewn palce it's pretyt okay. Oh, and given the bathrooms a lick and promise.I've filed. The filing tray is empty. The filing stack no longer exists. I'm very proud of myself. Some of it had been there since last year. I've also sorted out a fat file in the filing cabinet and split it into two. At some point I'll go through the whole cabinet again and 'archive' stuff (the attic is a marvelous place) and throw quite a bit out but that can wait for another day.Flyladies, in the olden days when we all had crimsony passports if you renewed them early (up to six months, I think) you'd get your new passport back with those six months added on. Now that we all have blue/black passports, do you know if the extra time gets added on? Mine will expire at some point next year and I'd like to know if it's worth doing it early but can't find out about the potential extra or lost months.Ionafan, I've never thought about walking the Cotswold Way until you mentioned it and it's absolutely spectacular, and at about 106 miles, very doable in 10 - 12 days. However, the elevation is is much tougher than Hadrian's Wall, so it's not an easy hike by any stretch of the imagination. Once I've done the Hadrian's Wall 23 miles I skipped last time I'd be up for that, or section hiking it with anyone that would be up for it, tbh. (Accommodation costs are £££. If the blue hair-raising emoji were still available there would be plenty of those.)Re passports, according to this (admittedly old) post, you no longer get the unexpired time added to your new passport. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/09/passport-applicants-hit-out-after-being-given-shorter-than-expec/ At least they are being dealt with quickly at the moment. I renewed my expired passport a few weeks ago and it took only 6 days from making the online application to receiving it, which I thought was incredible. Thanks for that. I had hoped things would have settled back to the old system after all the hoo haa, but apparently not, and never will. The gift that keeps on giving .... My main problem is the fear of another strike at the passport office if I leave it until the last minute. Helpful to know it's onl taking six days now though.I will fly today, but I'm not entirely sure which bit of the house will get my attention because all of it could do with some. At the very least I need to clear the sort of scullery area near the washing machine, where various bird feeders need to be cleaned out. And it would be a good idea to get both letting rooms ready for next weeks lets so I may do that.

Morning all,
Jazee, I am usually a fraud, but post anyway 😉.
Bedding changed and in wm. Goodness knows where / if / when it will get dry. Bed remade with the thicker duvet as I have been decidedly cold these past couple of nights. Off to get hair cut later, so I will take DD’s car for a run then. Before that, bathroom cleaning is planned, but DH has finally shifted himself and wants to get some bits down from the loft. I don’t like to stop him as some of it hasn’t moved for 20 years…7 -
Morning all
Breakfast done
Bathroom tidy
Have decided to tackle the oven this morning. The bulb has gone and it's filthy so will get the marigolds and spondex out...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Sneaking in in my lunch break to breathe in some Flylady posivibes. 👃👃
Feargal is full of petrol as planned. And I've ordered my repeat prescription.
My morning has been full of bitty complex problems, hoping the afternoon will be more straightforward 🤞
Have a good one

I had to go back and check my spelling then, Valli 😱🤣.
Hair chopped, DD’s car has had its run. Mr M delivered early, and the (very small amount) of shopping has been put away. Sneaking a slice of toast and a cuppa now, then I will run the vacuum around upstairs. DH is sulking in the office because I asked him what he had been up to while I was out. Busy, apparently 🤔6 -
I've worn myself out. Oven is now sparkling - it took ages.
Even took the door off and dismantled it so I could clean all three layers of glass.
Racks scrubbed and sparkling.
Oven bulb replaced and more ordered as it was the last one.
I've just a few baking trays to find a new home for and then 'tis done.
I need to do my Mr T order for tomorrow then I fancy trying my hand at making some meatballs for dinner.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

feet tidied - turns out it's not a verruca - it appears I got something in my foot (and I recollect a stabbing pain in the summer, in the garden) which has now worked it's way back out (that'll have been the discomfort last week, then). Antiseptic has been applied. Loose nail now much better and I am good to go.
We have more rain - hoping that people aren't flooded out again...

Good evening all xx
Hope all are well x
I have been to work, came home, cleaned the doggy doo, and done some school-work that there wasn't time for in school.
I want to sort out the fridge and freezer as it's bin day tomorrow and as it's now a three weekly thing, best to do it just before rather than having it sitting in the bin for weeks!!!8 -
Hope your afternoon was better than your morning, round x
Since my earlier post I have continued to enjoy a productive day:
- did admin, emails, phonecalls
- ordered meds
- put sausage casserole for tea in SC
- cleaned thoroughly upstairs, even remembered to bleach both shower mats
- had a few zzz after the chicken soup
- took Rosie for a good walk up to the Three Fields, where she played chase with a young lurcher
- took rubbish out to the black bin and decided to try to fill the green bin also (tomorrow will be the last collection until March); went round the back garden carefully pruning slashing away at the buddleia, spiky blackberry, ivy etc and also chopped up some thin dead branches
- after tea, ran DW and WULTD the pans
- put in an order from the Jungle
- found a straightforward recipe for vegan Italian white bean soup which I will cook as a treat for K - she grew up in Italy and has fond memories of her mother making it for when she got home from school
I have a couple of little admin jobs to do now, and then I shall go and watch GBBO.
Enjoy the rest of your evening xxx
