I think plants might be best option at the moment KK. Potatoes 🥔 1st earlies- Caledonian pearl, 2nd earlies- Charlottes, kestrel and Nicolas, maincrop, Desiree, Orla and Setanta. Should give us about 8 and half rows. We usually do 11, but we aren’t eating as many as we used too. We also got garlic and borlotto bean seeds.Paid off credit card and part 1 of the big walking holiday this morning. Just waiting for car bills to arriveOH is taking his parents over to see family, the adult kids and I are off to met mum for fish and chips. Hopefully have a fire later.

I can't believe you have dried washing in this weather. Here it would just blow away into someone else's garden... but then I am on a very big hill, possibly why
I like the sound of the Hadrian Wall holiday, I have always wanted to see it and walk it since seeing it on a programme years ago.

Sm shop yesterday was £116, £10 was cleaning stuff, lots of offers for on stuff we regularly use. Still a bit high but hopefully it will last the week. A bit annoyed with myself as I had a 3for 2 offer and I forgot to pick up the extra one😤 2nd time ive done that this year. Did manage to get some Bach flower remedy as my mood is low ( definitely seasonal). So hopefully should feel a bit more me soon. It’s come earlier this year, so wasn’t prepared. The payment plan for OH car is paid off (failed it’s MOT and need near £900 worth of work done in November, paid off in 3 instalments) Still waiting for bill for spring going on his and clutch replacement on mine.I have a small investment maturing this week, would have been nice to have some spare cash but it’s already allocated to paying the youngest back for the loan they gave us to pay off the mortgage (will still owe them £2600). The other amount is to pay off some of the cost for the holiday cottages I booked because youngest said they were coming and has since changed their mind( we were going to camp to keep costs down on the big walk, which youngest wouldn’t do) . Next year I think I am going to start asking for a contribution from the adult kids towards the holidays especially as they now insist on having a room each which pushes the price up. They currently just pay for either a meal out or coffee and cake.Used up some more Christmas veg yesterday, root hash last night and made a veggie stew for tomorrow. We have just 3 sweet potatoes, 2 swedes and a parsnip left.Right best get a wriggle on and get the youngest prescription in before 10.Love 🐞

Had final car bill, slightly eye watering but needs must (£800+).
Felt very motivated to declutter and tidy the kitchen. Lots of OD and I mean very OD spices etc. Created a use it up shelf, got lots of half used packets of stuff into containers. I can easily see what we’ve got now. A lot of pasta, I ashamed to say there is almost 20 packets of unopened packets. They are in the awkward corner cupboard that even when I stand on a step I can’t reach. I have to climb onto the worktop to see in it. So that’s been moved. Microwave has been moved near to the window as the youngest couldn’t read the dial where it was. They successfully made beans on toast with cheese. Lots of stuff thrown in the bin. Stuff put on olio. Descent stuff gone to chazzers. Stuff gone in the recycling bin. More cupboards to look in tomorrow, however it the cupboard with the alcohol in and as LadyWithAPlan rightly pointed out it doesn’t go off.
I’ve even cleaned the filter on the hoover.
Very happy with what I’ve got done today.
Time for tea

If those spices have been kept in the dark they shouldn't be a problem. I have some that I have had since March 1987 & they are still fine.

That sounds like some sort of near-record for successful decluttering! I'm impressed. And well done to youngest for making something so nice to eat.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I’m shattered now. Another busy day, dropped off a load of plastic recycling at sainsbugs whilst picking up some tonic. Called at BM as noticed we had run out of bird food and heard them singing this morning. Cleaned the mini pond and refilled it. I suspect once the fat wood pigeons cotton on there is food we’ll have plenty of visitors. Spurred on by watching Sandi’s great British woodland restoration. Took another bag of stuff to the chazzer, picked up a green wheelie chair for the dining room for the youngest (£4).Dropped off empty inhalers at the pharmacy for recycling. Trip to orthotics to check the youngest new trainers fit. Hopefully collect them in a couple of weeks. Finished burning saying onto shelf. 1st coat of paint onto metal cube frame. Cupboard with empty jars and plastic boxes (used for storing or freezing produce from the plot), sorted finally. Just one more cupboard to go, but having a break.
Time for fruit cake
