Glad you had a lovely break 😊 and wondering quite how many toilet rolls your dad bought if he gave some away and even so, you are still swamped! 😉

Well done on the C25K - I'm going to restart soon. If I remember rightly, the shin splints thing could mean you are taking it too fast. I'll see if I can find out for you (DD is a running coach).

I think I need to get some wall squats in before I start again - that was recommended to me as one of my knees tells me when I've been running and it's about supporting the knee by strengthening the muscles either side.

On the subject of inheritances, I'm still using the freezer bags and greaseproof paper from my Mum's kitchen, years ago. The many boxes of sticking plaster had to go as they lost their stickiness.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

  • Well done on all the organisation and going for a run!
volunteering sounds ideal if you can fit it around the youngest

sounds like you are pretty clear on the next steps for finances as well
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • I stopped getting shin splints once I got the right trainers.
  • Hmmm wall squats sound a good idea cherryfudge as I have weak knees too.
LWAP hopefully the next steps are achievable.
Redofromstart I think I’ll look into that if I’m still running after a month. The eldest was assessed for proper running shoes and said it was best thing they did.
Busy 🐝 day. Managed to move chest of drawers and massive book case into place. Which means the tv is gone upstairs to the room of doom. We’ve decided we want to try going without one for a year. OH wants to keep it so he can watch the rugby. Anyway strategic placed furniture means I don’t need to touch up the paint in a corner 😝.
    Frugalness for today
    1) Made a chilli for tomorrow ys mushrooms, peppers and veggie spicy sausages added.

    1) Bought a cover and screen protector for OH phone as he is very prone to breaking them.
    2) The youngest had soup from the freezer and we had the quiche I had swapped with mum.
    3) Free exercise- 2nd day of 🛋️ 2 5k , yoga, dog walk and walk in town.
    4) Resisted the siren call of a reduced dress.
    5) Currently reading 2 books I picked up from the book swop telephone box

Natures washing machine didn’t materialise here, so missed using natures tumble dryer. Dehumidifier on for a couple of hours to help dry stuff.
Plan for tomorrow is to meet the eldest at a nature reserve at a half way point, provided the weather is ok.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Had a lovely day. Met with the eldest, the youngest had enough energy to come too but did get 🥶 after an hour and half. Managed to get our steps in and discussed our holidays. We each have a weekend with another person in our little family. The eldest and I would really like to do some wild  🏊‍♀️and paddle boarding (yha or camping), the eldest and OH with camp ⛺️ and walk, the youngest and I will hopefully go to Stratford (yha for accommodation), the youngest and OH will go to a friend’s cottage at the coast and take in laws. OH and I hopefully will go and do a dark🌌 skies trip (⛺️) and the kids will have a weekend at home. They have been told that as they are adults now,  they will need to contribute finically to these additional holidays. We can’t keep paying for everything. Fun pot already started and should help pay for some of these breaks.
Cost of today was £35 - treated ourselves to lunch and drinks with it been new year. OH has actually decluttered some of his beloved books (about 30 in total), hopefully get those worth something (not a lot) sent tomorrow. Rest will go to book swop telephone box or charity table at Sainsbugs .
Tomorrow is run number 3 of week one so best get some zzzzzz
