The youngest is on the road to recovery thanks cherryfudge for asking. 🤞they will manage a full week next week.Love hurkle durkle, definitely needed today. Very stressful yesterday . We hopefully will be able to pay our mortgage off once all my inheritance comes through. Unfortunately it will come in dribs and drabs so won’t be able to pay it off straightaway so will have to be saved till there is the correct amount. Also there probably won’t be a lot leftover. Anyway the dribs and drabs will take me over the uc allowance and we will lose £600 a month. We can’t afford to lose that amount although we will come April when the youngest reaches a certain age. The plan obviously is to go back to work then and hopefully the ramp will be in. The ramp company said it could take up to 5 months for one to be installed 🥴. So work isn’t an option at the moment. It’s complicated as the will is heavily weighted to my half sibling and I don’t get an equal share. Even though my dad’s motto was I treat you both the same🤣. Anyway spoke to the eldest and they will hold onto my share until the amount we need is reached. The eldest is very good with money and already has a massive amount in savings even though they are still a student.Need to rid myself of all the negative energy I’ve got whirring around in my head and body. It’s starting to make me feel ill. So going to get up do some yoga and have roasted tomatoes on toast for breakfast.Love 🐞

Do be careful with someone else holding onto money and UC as it can be classed as Depriving yourself of money. Could you overpay mortgage as soon as money comes even though it will not be the full amount - you are allowed to pay debt no questions asked on UC not seen as depriving yourself of capital. You would need to get and overpay in the same assessment period so did not affect UC.
Sorry to be a worrier but need to be safe.2 -
You think you’ve covered every aspect but often that’s not the case so thanks auti for the advice. Back to the drawing board.

Personally I’d make the overpayments as the money comes in anyway (if allowed to make overpayments), I wouldn’t want someone holding on to the money for me 🤷♀️

Also the sooner it is paid off the less interest will be charged. The only thing that would put me off paying would be if I could avoid any penalties for early payment by waiting a month or so. But still pay off as much as possible.

We have penalties attached to mortgage.

Penalties often seem to apply to repaying over 10% per annum, so it's worth checking if you can get in under that?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
