I used the tell us once service thanks cherryfudge. There is a lot of crap to wade through. Got designated areas sorted. Come home with a load of stuff that needs to be recycled or sent to a charity shop. I’m not sure how many hole punchers(3) , staplers (7), pairs of nail clippers (3) , tin openers (4) , random plugs and chargers (12 ) a couple need.🤣. There is a lot of stuff we can sell if either of us has the time or the patience to list. I have also plenty of stuff that will save us money in the future and needs to be absorbed in the house. We have a meeting with someone regarding probate. I know that it will cost us money to use someone, but I know it will probably fall to me to sort . I just haven’t got the time or the will to begin.

This reminds me so much of sorting my parents' house: similar numbers of staplers, etc - and literally hundreds of videos (I think I counted 600+). Also boxes of sticking plasters galore. I don't know why as they didn't seem more prone to cuts than other people.

The problem with paying someone to sort probate is that you land up having to sort all the info to give to them.

If I could do it then I am pretty sure you can. It was the paperwork sorting that took the time & you have to do that anyway. Have a read on the death, funeral & probate threads & see what you think. Provided you know there are no debts you can cut 6 months off the process (especially if the only beneficiaries are executors too). It can be a real eyeopener.

My husband did probate for a family member then helped a friend through doing it as well. It has the advantage of being money saving but then, getting someone else to do it saves you from all the work involved. You have to spread yourself in various directions already so be wary of taking on more than is fair on yourself.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks cherryfudge and badmemory feeling a bit more confident at taking it on. The house sorting is going slowly thanks idreamifplants.
Not slept well as I need to ask my half sibling for dad’s phone in order to delete several WhatsApp groups that various members of my family had with him. I feel these are private conversations and they should not be reading them. I also need to access his phone to get details of a holiday he’d booked that I’ve asked them several times to send me, so that I can cancel it. I’ve also asked for some photos from it and again they’ve not been sent. Need to remind them to sort out whether his campervan is still insured. I’m a named driver but they insisted it go on their drive as they wants it ( will buy me out) . Not looking forward to today.Love 🐞

Oh dear, that does sound like a tricky conversation, I hope it all sorts out okay.
Speaking from a distance - and please excuse this as I can't see the details of what's going on and I'm not asking as it's none of my business - but people do grieve differently. I wonder if your sister feels connected to your Dad by reading the messages? Perhaps the people involved in the conversations could make the judgment and delete those if they aren't at ease with her reading? After all, it's a privacy issue for them too. However, as you say there is a privacy issue anyway if you feel your Dad might not have wanted those messages read.
I hope you get the photos, photos are so precious.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
