Debtfreewannabe321 our kids are adults now and Christmas doesn't quite feel the same as when they were little. They would rather have extra time in bed or go for a walk.
So we have 2 weekends booked, each will meet the needs of those going. The 1st (YHA) will more than likely involve lots of walking. I have put a limit on the height I'm prepared to climb and distance I can walk. So today I've download an app to count my steps. Could do with one that shouts get your butt off that settee you lazy bleep. Anyway the goal is to try improve my fitness in the next 9 wks. 2nd weekend (YHA) is later in the year and will therefore be warmer for when I stand and watch the youngest horseride (RDA). Mum has offered to pay for them to horseride as their birthday present. Hopefully we will be able to book into the accessible (warm) pool. Checked the fun pot and it already has £14.14 in it. Gold sent off today, hopefully will raise enough to pay for part of the holiday. Right best retrieve the youngest from college, they are not going to be happy I've signed up to octopods saving session tonight.

Money arrived from gold selling🎉. There is enough there to cover the additional weekends adventures, petrol and food plus food and petrol for the original weekend. Dead chuffed with that. Will pay off the incurred bill and put the rest in my isa, so it doesn't get used for bills etc. Still waiting for book selling payout. That I will cash and put directly into fun pot.
Took youngest to get a new winter coat as the one they've got isn't keeping them warm enough and they are having difficulties with the zip. It was a charity shop find, so not a total waste of money. New coat didn't cost me anything as it was from their PIP.
Last night went and volunteered. We were packing onions and beans for our up and coming potato day. We got through almost everything, so not needed today.

    Frugalness for yesterday
    1. Received money for gold see above
    2. Homemade soup for lunch
    3. Free exercise with miss giddychops
    4. Prefer using dried chickpeas to tinned, so will order more (cheaper per 100g).
    5. Soaking beans we grew this year to make tonight's tea.
    6. No money spent.

    Grateful for
    1. Making the effort to go last night
    2. The youngest finding a coat that fits, with a zip that can do on their own that will keep them warm.
    3. Central heating and a snuggly warm bed.

Plan for today is to walk miss giddychops, meet up with my sister and go Cs shopping.

    Love🐞

Really curious (sorry to be nosy) why were you packing onions and beans and what is the up and coming potato day? Enjoy reading your posts :)
  • LB how do you cook your dried chickpeas, I have tried several times, they seem to take hours to cook and don't always taste nice. I feel like i'm doing something wrong even though I follow instructions on t'internet. I have a load of dried (do they go off?) but always opt for canned because the dried confound me :confounded:

Auti potato day is put on by our local transition town. We are trying to encourage people to grow their own. We sell beans, onions, potatoes etc often cheaper than online/garden centre and people can buy as much or little as they want. It happens just once a year.
Debtfreewannabe321 I soak my chickpeas for 24hrs and then cook them in my pressure cooker. Time depends on quantity. I've tried doing it on the hob but they were not as nice.

Does DH have any contacts at local gyms who might know who services or repairs their kit, or local rowing clubs might be able to advise? Failing that, what about asking the OEM - I appreciate it will be out of warranty but it still might be a repair you could do yourselves?
