They're standard in terms of height, width and fixing screws. But some protrude more at the back, particularly the so called "flat plate" style. If by "backplate" you mean the mounting box, I'd fit as deep as possible.
It is the backkplate recommended 30mm yet the Double Socket info states 25mm.
Almost certainly that 25mm is the minimum or recommended minimum. I can't imagine why a socket would have a maximum mounting box depth.

A deeper box make cable management and routing easier. In addition you never know whether you might need to accommodate terminals in there at some point in the future, or run a spur meaning there are now three set of conductors to fit in.

I've asked b+q to replace 9 standard sockets and one double.
Re adding eco7 water booster which lights up from eco7 low rate times and dims from day rate.
Couldn't get clear answer on sourcing suitable raplacement, it does work though my water is eco7 2 rate 24/7 don't need to use this, any replacement would need to work and be nicer visually.
+Finally requested fuse board to be modernised, maybe make DQ heater more stable at higher temps.

Maybe. Does your current water heater have an off peak only energised during your cheap rate, or is there a permanent live as well? At a quick glance that E7+ unit seems to just support a permanent feed, maybe not a problem if your E7 times are known, but you'll need to make sure you program it to match. Be aware the controller switches between GMT/BST whereas most E7 is GMT all year round.

Looks like a cheaper source here ..

Excellent water heater I think is off/on peak, I'll need to check if red led matches smart ihd tonight.
I confirm eco 7 electric does change when clocks change/gmt/bst, though need to post update if water control matches current Bst switchover.
The water booster red led auto lights every night which uses low rate, hopefully eco 7 rate/times.
Need to scan manual 1st thanks for additional links.

Had another look at the manual, and it can be set either for GMT only, or GMT/BST.

Looking at your current controller, when switched On does it heat only during off peak? And does the boost work at any time? It would be good to see how it's connected.

RED led evening into next morning, Water lasts most of day, I'm low hot water user.
I'm 99% sure red led only heats water off peak times, that's why the Booster is separate if low rate water was 'used up'
I did try Boost it's dial timer upto 2 hrs, though I've had some water re heated 15-30 mins.
1.It's water heater ,I assume low rate times when red led auto lights up/switches off.
    2. Booster is the Dial up to 2hrs If I used up all overnight heated water the next day-which I don't.
