Hello - just an update. Deafening silence from UC  - I have an appointment with my M.P. this Friday at 9am (only phoned this morning) who is very interested. Will see what that brings. Thank you everyone for your help and support it helps me to not give up.

Truly had enough now. Got my final tax credits decision (managed migration) and it is wrong - they have put the whole years CBESA in the part where the decision is for 6/4/23 to 5/9/23 (21 weeks and 5 days.

I phoned tax credits to say and have been told I have to request a MR challenging their figures and it can take up to 115 days before I get a reply.

    everything is a mess.

Has it actually caused a reduction in your entitlement? Check in Part 2 of the award notice, and see if their has been any reduction due to your income.

It is likely that there hasn't, in which case you don't need to bother doing anything.

Yamor - as far as I can see it has made no difference but I worry that with UC being so difficult any tiny discrepancy will thoroughly blow their minds and they may take the 21 weeks and 5 days and work out the year using that. Then could say well you owe tax credits as income too much so your MR request is invalid - I can just imagine that happening! I put nothing past them. I have done an online tax credit MR which was so easy and will apparently get a response in 15 days and hopefully correct paperwork. Am leaving paper trails everywhere and cross referencing.

I understand your worries, particularly due to how you've been treated until now, but I don't think it is actually possible for your final tax credit award to affect your UC.
But there was no harm in submitting the MR!

Tax credit award notices show the annual income figure and it should then be pro-rated for the time you are on tax credits. The annual figure on a tax credit award when you move to UC may not be the same as the actual annual figure because it is a different calcualtion for that final period before you move. However - the final award notice will always show an annual figure no matter how it is calculated.
Unless this has been changed recently, this is not actually the case. Where tax credits ends for any other reason, then you would be right, but where the in-year finalisation process is used, then only the part-year income is shown. See the attached example from a couple of years ago.

I have deleted my post! When i checked you're absolutely right.

But what i'm not following is why the OP says it makes no difference to her award. If tax credits think that the full amount of CBESA is the income for the part period, then that would make a difference to the amount awarded?

Hello. I have come back from seeing MP who is going to write to head of my region as he can clearly see there is an issue both in payment amount and ignoring my request for MR. He has a paper copy of my entire journal entries etc. (found I could up load to Books on my ipad).

Icequeen1: Child tax credits have always taken into account my CBESA and ill health pension as income and that is why I was worried by the incorrect amount in my Final tax credits decision for 06/04/2023 to 05/09/2023 (and have done a MR to request the correct figures are used rather than the entire year amount). Where I said it has not made a difference to my award is be ASU’s even, as yet, tax credits have not asked for money back, so at present it has not affected my award which was calculated (I think) on previous years income of CBESA and pension.

The Final tax credit decision shows the exact pension amount I received during that period - it is only the CBESA amount they messed up. Hope this helps - I am totally lost DWP left hand, right hand confusion

I'm glad the MP is going to escalate the issue.

Having thought more about it, i suspect the reason the mistake hasn't affected your award is because your income is lower than the CTC threshold plus there is a disregard for increases income. So the mistake hasn't impacted the final amount you received - but in other cases it would do. So i think probably right to ask for an MR.

Out of interest when you filled in your declaration form declaring your figures after your tax credits stopped - did you put a part year figure for the ESA as well as the pension? Its worrying that it has shown the wrong figure for ESA if you declared the part year figure.
