I will ask in journal if they will tell me how it is calculated for transitional protection but don’t hold out much hope. Thank you0

By the looks of it, no calculation of transitional amount was done, so there is no calculation.
Requesting mandatory reconsideration is the way forward, so that there is a process of review and you can supply the tax credits information to help with this. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Reposting in case anyone struggling to read.
(I have removed NINfrom page 1 might be wise to get it removed from other posts. (let me know if I've missed any other personal; details.)

@HillStreetBlues - thank you. I have removed the screenshot in my post containing the NIM but it has been copied by Icequeen1 and have no idea how to sort that out. Thank you - I did not notice and I appreciate your vigilance and help.0

No problem, I have reported it to mods having personal info, hopefully they or IQ1 will remove it.Auti said:@HillStreetBlues - thank you. I contacted my area citizens advice by email as someone suggested and got a reply back that quote … “unfortunately, at present, Citizens advice are not allowed to advise regarding calculations of migrated UC. We would advise you to contact UC helpline through your journal or phone “. (they gave number and went on to say if I needed debt help contact them but they are very busy and likely over a week before contacting me).
@HillStreetBlues - thank you for contacting mods re info - appreciated.

Students are especially worse off. Especially those with families.Icequeen1 said:
It isn't the case that anyone with unearned income is worse off. This came up on a previous thread and i think Yamor explained that there seems to be a difference between the legislation and what is happening in practice in some cases and so that can be challenged via a mandatory reconsideration. The legislation does not make everyone with unearned income worse off.andrewmp said:
The system is broken. They said nobody would be worse off, but loads will be. Basically anyone with unearned income.Spoonie_Turtle said:I understand now, thank you - so we're still none the wiser why OP isn't getting any TP, but it shouldn't be a systemic flaw hammering everyone.
But there are situations where due to the definitions used or a few other things people will be worse off. Equally there will be a few situations where people will get a transitional element even though their UC award will be higher.0 -
Are you saying they are worse off intentionally (so applying the transitional protection legislation they are still worse off ) or is it because of the way DWP are calculating it (perhaps not correctly)? Why are they worse off? It may be the case that there are some groups worse off but it isn't everyone with unearned income.andrewmp said:

It's purely because of student maintenance loans. They were disregarded for Tax credits but it's my understanding they are not for UC, even with TP.
