This year is the least festive I've ever felt and I'm not really prepared at all. Things aren't wrapped, the fridge isn't full and not even everything is bought. I'm so horrifically stressed.
The positives are, I got my preferred role in the restructure at work and my manager is one of two people who are both really good. Two of my work besties are coming with me as well which is a relief. No change in hours of pay, so nothing to worry about there. We don't start the new roles until April though so it's a bit meh! Just feels a bit like limbo now.
Oh and the dishwasher still isn't connected. I'm totally requesting installation next time. DH is bloody rubbish.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

We went for a beautiful walk yesterday and managed to see the big man again. The activities were great. Toasting marshmallows, making a Christmas bauble, making apple juice, axe throwing. It was brilliant. Ending with a story round the camp fire read by the big man.So I found my Christmas spirit. 😁
FIL has finally agreed to come to us for Christmas Day. So DH is happier. And my parents are coming on Boxing Day. So we should all be pretty exhausted by the 27th.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

Oh no, hope you managed to salvage the day and they are not too poorly x0

Well Christmas day itself was essentially a bust. They couldn't even eat anything. DS1 had 5 roast potatoes and was in bed before 8pm - he then slept for 14 hours straight. He had a fever as he went to bed as well. DS2 managed 2 bits of turkey and some brussel sprouts. He stayed up late and seems to have bounced back much quicker.
The upshot being FIL came and he wasn't feeling particularly christmasy (obviously first one without MIL), so the non christmasy vibe kinda worked for him. DS1 snuggled into him and it seemed to really give him a lift. He stayed until midnight watching old Morecombe and Wise reruns with DH. So they both seemed to take a lot from just being together and doing that.
Boxing day was better. DS1 managed to eat more, but still looked unwell. DS2 has bounced back but his appetite is still lacking and he's quite emotional as well. My folks came and FIL also turned up for a bit. Managed to do a video call with my nephew as well who lives in New Jersey. So it was lovely to catch up with him - I know he's been super home sick and is missing my folks loads (me less so as I speak to him all the time).
So it's been rubbish in lots of ways, but we made the best of it and hopefully we are over the worst now and the kids can get on with having some fun. I've spent the morning building DS1's new gaming set up....soooo fingers crossed he's impressed when he comes upstairs.
We are going to snuggle up as a family and watch a movie soon as well. So we are pulling it back round to having fun and happy memories. I've got some mega cleaning plans, so will crack on with that over the weekend. I will feel like I've achieved greatness by the end of the holidays. I WILL.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.84 December 25

Sorry the children have been unwell. It does sound like you were able to host FILs first solo in away that was good for him, peaceful and full of love. I'm sure he appreciated it, but I'm sure he would rather the children hadn't been unwell for their sakes.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
