Yesterday was sponsored by the allotment. The kids snacked on peas (pea pods) and cucumber sliced up like crisps.

It was extra special as DS1 HATES cucumber.

The kids look exhausted and fed up today. DH was meant to get them out of the house. But there is no sign of them going anywhere. 🙄

Spent yesterday at the allotment. I’m absolutely broken today. But she’s looking like an allotment which I’m overjoyed with.

Got more courgettes, cucumbers, a red onion and 2 brown onions. Also got some tomatoes from the greenhouse.

Went for a day out with my folks and the kids on Thursday too. It was such a lovely day. We went to the ‘zoo’, got DS2 a membership. We strolled round the garden, the nature trail and then spent quite a bit of time at the playground. We arrived at 11am and left at 6pm. I was absolutely exhausted but it was such a fun day.

Back at work tomorrow - which I’m sad about though. I really need to retire (or come into a big inheritance/lottery win, I’m not fussy).

Hard but good. Really enjoyable actually. It was a nice mix of people who were clearly at an expert level right down to a bloke who’s clearly recovering from an injury or stroke. He was very weak and wobbly. And everyone in between.

Im freshly back from holiday so hoping to start a new routine soon. Just need to figure out what that looks like once the boys are settled back in school. 🤔

Thought I'd probably better do a mortgage related update as that's why we are all here.

    MORTGAGE
Reduction in daily interest since start of new mortgage - £2.36

We now own 38.82% of the house (based on original sale valuation) - current rough valuation actually puts us as 49.82%

    7 rooms owned

Paid off 31.66% of the original mortgage amount. 10.89% off the new mortgage.

Current MF date - Oct  Feb 2037.

It's all baby steps but we are getting there. Our savings are also in a much healthier state. But I think we've come to the realisation that the extension we were dreaming of is probably out of our reach. We may need to just admit defeat, build a 'garden room' and then extend the back slightly (single storey) to create some extra space.

It's all small stuff in the grand scheme of things, but it's definitely giving food for thought.
how encouraging ! 6 months off your end date is great and you only just started this
    The allotment looks great!
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
