  • This weekend feels like it's flown by. It's been bit of an expensive weekend, topped the car up with petrol, did Asda shop and also got myself some new socks and slippers and a pretty tealight lamp for my living room.

Then today it was back to emergency dentist which was another £27 and another course of antibiotics. I also got a voucher through for 20% off medexpress for my next jab. It's made it cheaper then everywhere else but had to be ordered this weekend. My plan originally had been to wait until payday but think I've managed to make it work.

This week will be train, parking and coffee on Wednesday. Then Friday is Nails and massage. I have the money put aside for all of this. Also have enough to get a coffee on Friday as well. Will see depends what time my nails are booked in for. I then have £50 left for this week's food shop which is more than enough. Just have to be careful with personal spends is all. Roll on payday on Thursday, not planning to dip into it though until the weekend.

Yes and no haha! Relief because it's gone and I can take that line out of my budget. But nervous because I don't have as big if a security blanket. But I know by the end of December pay that £1k will be back in my savings. Just trying to focus on that for now.

good strategy. No credit card debt is a great place to be.
when I got to that stage I needed to treat savings like I treated debt and trying to grow savings in as focussed a way as I treated debt.
I'm not as good at saving as I am at debt reduction but my regular savings accounts keep me on track by taking away the discretionary choice to save.

  • Good idea I think I'm sure you will feel better and save the EF back up again in no time.

Yes I've already started planning how much I'm going to put away each month for my sinking fund. Then rest will be more discretionary as to how I split it.

It is a good feeling to know it's gone even if I would feel more secure with higher savings. But let's be honest anything that wipes out my savings will likely need more than the extra I had saved.
