  • Been to the dentist, I do need a filling, scheduled for Friday and now £73.50 lighter. I ended up taking £75 from my sinking fund for it and hopefully can top that back up over the month by reducing my spending. If not well that's what it is for. I did look at budgeting for it in my health and beauty pot but that usually just results in me having an extra massage. That's why I have decided to include dental costs in my sinking fund going forward as its an irregular cost.

I have one pot for Dentist, optician, vitamin supplements, DH's prescriptions or anything medical etc.  Then another one I call Self Care pot, this is my special pot for massage, Reflexology etc, Reiki, & hair cuts.  I find that works well for me

That might be a good idea. I have a prepayment card for prescriptions and majority of opticians is paid by work. But dental, vitamins and £10 difference on opticians would need covering.

  • How is it Monday again already? It feels like this weekend went so quick and I had Friday off as well.

Spendy few days but all within my budget for the month. Moving my spending and food money to my chase account weekly is working well atm.

    Petrol £39
    Massage £35
    Football ticket 1 £35
    Football ticket 2 £37.50
    Replacement wing mirror cover £11
Game for nephew for Xmas £49
Bank transfer for niece and nephew £50
    Massage gun £21
Tesco shop £56 - this did include some deicer, scrapping tool.
Asda £12 - used up my cash and vouchers so only paid £2 on card.

Was supposed to be going out for dinner with a friend tonight but have rescheduled as not feeling too great. I may have to give up my weight loss injections as the side effects are hard to live with. I've got my next one ready for xmas but after that think I'm going to stop.

I will instead look at using the money I currently pay for that on annual car parking permit for beach as I miss my beach walks. Also on a more regular massage so that I can go back to the gym. My hope is that the boost of nearly 2st lost will help me keep going with it.

  • a beach walk is far better than a weight loss jab. Will help your mental health as well as physical.  I know you live down south, is the beach in question L-O-S by any chance?

My pass covers both L-O-S and nearby S-B which is one I tend to use as I like walking it's golden mile. It also includes the country park between them both as well which I live round corner from.

You must live quite near my dad. He is in L-O-S.  I used to love living on that coast. I do miss the sea since I moved to the Midlands. I went to the big school by SB when it was a grammar school, back in the day. Was such a lovely location.

I am very lucky to live so close to the sea and it's something i definitely take for granted. Shame about house prices down here though!

Yes, that's one reason we wouldn't move back down there.

Sorry to hear the injections are giving you so bad side effects but great you have lost so much. Must be a great boost and make you want to continue as you say with the walks, gym etc. I think you live very near me if I can work the acronyms out it is a lovely area but expensive for sure. Well done on clearing all the cards great start to 2025.
