  • I keep playing with my budget, if I stick to my £250 groceries and £150 spends I would actually be able to pay off my card with Decembers pay. Seems fitting that I get paid my Backpay on 31st December the last day of 2024 and what would have been my mums birthday. Could go into 2025 without any credit card debt. I really want to make it happen. Wish me luck!

Ha yes very tempted but I am going to wait and see how much the replacement radiators and boiler service cost me first. If it leaves me with £1k then I'll be happy to pay it off early and focus on saving up again.

Sending positivity for the 31st December target date.  A great way to acknowledge what would have been your mum's birthday and say bye bye 2024 and hello 2025!

Thanks! I think it's doable, just need to be sensible with my personal spends. A lot of the credit card debt has come from emotional spending so it seems fitting.

Just had confirmation of sofa 1 refund going back on the card and it includes delivery cost so that's an extra £14.99 going back on card that I hadn't planned for. Every little helps.

  • Ooops I hadn't realised it had been so long.

Sofa saga continues, it came back in stock so they tried to arrange delivery despite me cancelling it. Now waiting for the courier to return it to the company so I can get my refund. All very frustrating but the sofa bed is working well at the moment and I'm in no rush to buy something for sake of it. I am keeping an eye on the black friday sales but haven't seen anything that says buy me so far.

I did order some new boots in sale but neither fit so sending them back. I will keep looking but again don't want to buy for sake of it.

I really need to get sorted with the vinted sales again and put some bits on Facebook marketplace. Hopefully I can get motivation to do it this weekend. But will see as currently on antibiotics for tooth infection and feeling rubbish. I'm also supposed to be going to visit my friend on Sunday which is 2hr drive each way. I will see how I feel though as been one illness after another lately.

Also my waste pipe from washing machine decided to come apart and flood my kitchen cupboard and floor. Luckily my brother got me the part from his work (£7) and I watched a you tube video on how to replace the pipe. It now works and saved me having to get a new one.

I also forgot that my yearly amazon prime was dud, luckily I had already requested £100 refund from octopus so that covered it.

Still on track to clear the card with my pay at end of December just need to hope nothing else happens during that time.

  • Hooray finally got email to confirm sofa refund is on its way. Also sent back my boots today so another £50 to come off the card.

I'm wondering how to deal with my sinking fund. It's currently fully funded and my next big expenses isnt until May time. So I'm wondering whether to just let it tick over and replace any small purchases between now and may time. Then start a regular monthly s/o so it's fully funded again by May 2026 or whether to just keep adding to it now and let it be more than needed? Or maybe some combination of both?

  • I’m pleased the sofa refund has been sorted for you.

Vinted / Facebook is a full time job IMO. I have heard some people find it easy to just set aside a few hours on a specific day for uploading and then one day a week for packaging and shipping.

Yes it does feel like that sometimes and after a day at work the last thing I want to do is add more items.

  • Wow the injections definitely sound like they're worth the money! Fab result!

The sofa saga sounds like a nightmare, I really wanted a new sofa when we moved house just because it doesn't really match the decor but after having a realistic look at the budget I decided to make do! Ours is perfectly functional and in the new year we will start saving for a new one, especially as we won't be going on holiday next year.

I gave up on Vinted/fb a good while ago and now just post stuff up on the freecycle local page. Not very mse but it gets the stuff a new home quickly!

Yes they have made a massive difference for me, though some of side effects aren't great but my hope is as the weight drops that will improve anyway.

Unless something jumps out at me during black friday I'll probably wait until new year and start looking. It's just me so the sofa bed with a footstool is doing the job for now.

Ha yes fortunately because sofa bed moved out of spare room I now have a designated area for vinted and fb stuff. Just need to stop getting poorly so u have motivation to add it again.
