lunch booked for DS’s birthday.
Welcome back Honey Bear…sounds like you’ve had a wonderful time. How silly that a flight is cheaper than the train! My friend and I are planning a trip to Glasgow and Edinburgh too, to get some use out of our railcards.

Welcome back Honey_Bear - it's great to see you! Many congratulations on your walking achievements: I'm glad your ankle held up xx
Hope your anxiety calms down, round xx
I have a vision of Jazee on a mini-roundabout xx
Yes please Natty xx Ithe card swap. If more than 2 people want a Secret Santa, I'm willing to organise (unless somebody else wants to sort it, in which case I will take part).
Very heavy rainfall and strong winds overnight, but the weather has calmed down now and we've made a good start to the week here:
- up bright and early, showered and dressed before breakfast
- S&S'd kitchen; emptied contents of green under-sink bin into compost, washed out bin (the rest of the rubbish and recycling goes out tomorrow)
- WMx2 done and hung out, as it's now sunny and warm
- did a financial check and set my budget for October
- S the decking man arrived at 9.20: he has taken off the rotten planks, the joists underneath are mainly in good order but he's gone to get one or two pieces of timber to screw in alongside as strengtheners, and he is hoping to get the new boards down this afternoon and maybe the first coat of non-slip varnish too
- I have dug out some plants that were growing in the very narrow border alongside the decking and lowered the ground level so that water will not get trapped behind the edging joist
- DH has just gone out for a soup and sandwich lunch with his mate
Other jobs to be done today:
- order DD's birthday gift
- pay a magazine subscription
- update a WM and DW tablet subscription
- eat something
- go to AH
- stop at the local garden shop on the way home from AH to buy a yellow pyracantha for the narrow border - it will tolerate robust pruning! - and some bulbs for the patio pots
- roast chicken for tea - will partially cook it in the SC while I'm out, but I need to make some GF cakes for a friend so will use the big oven to finish off everything together.
Catch up later... xxx

TY Pigpen, Valli (happy birthday Valli's DS) and Ionafan (so pleased you're volunteering to do the Secret Santa this year). So far:- scrubbed the kitchen sink, drainer and washing up bowl;- scalded the various bits of plastic I needed to debug for the sample;- I've trundled the dog on a short walk and managed to get a sample from her;- contacted the vet so that when I drop it off they can give me the flea and tick treatment she's due;- put the beetroot in the slow cooker for tonight's supper,- set up Belovéd's automatic email forwarding;- chatted with the postman about long distance walks;- confirmed dog walking and sitting arrangements for when we're away, and for once, at home, eaten a proper breakfast. I need to clean up my diet generally and today was Day 1 of that, mainly because I finished all my lovely nutty chocolate. Can't clean up my diet with that in the house. Must stop buying it.Now for a trip out to the vet's and to Saltram House for a proper dog walk, before a quick trip to Morribunds to buy the few things I need for this week's food. Absolutely MUST meal plan this week.Better is good enough.9

Hi all, just popping in. Long time no see
LO is now 7 months old and we're finally in a fairly decent routine - with housework at least! Basically I try to keep the bedroom and living room tidy during the day (not too hard, just make sure to make the bed/put away the clothes as soon as they come up from the washing machine/put away any toys that were out during nap time/keep on top of the washing) and then after we've eaten our dinner one of us tidies up the kitchen. I whip around the bathroom once a week. Other than the office we don't really use any other spaces in the house. The office is permanently a messbut that's because it's almost constantly used by one of us.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips for cleaning ceramic sinks? Someone *throws glance at OH* keeps pouring his coffee/tea remnants down the sink and then not swilling them out so now the sink is stained. I tried to give it a good scrub last night but they weren't budging£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January10 -
